Only 15 minutes up US Highway 65 from interstate I-70 (exit 78B).

my buddy ordered this fine pulled pork sandwich

I ordered 3 meat dish -- fine ribs, decent chicken and excellent chopped beef.

The sauce was better than almost any I've tried in Kansas City



they are open 11am Tues-Sat. Dining room closes 7pm (drive-thru 8), except on Fri and Sat, dining room open to 8 and drive-thru to 9.

the family that runs this excellent establishment have been doing BBQ for decades here. It shows! They have another outlet in Sedalia.

Those meats look awesome, especially that pulled pork sandwich. I don't often get to MO, but when I do I will keep it in mind.

Where are they in relation to St. Louis/Kansas City?

This is interesting. A restaurant in a house in a residental neighborhood.
Was it built pre-zoning laws, or do they not have zoning laws.

Either way, It's old skool man. It's happenin'.

Marshall is a few miles north of I-70, and roughly 80 miles (Exit 78) from Kansas City. The place looks great! My problem is I am usually heading East or West on I-70, and seem to program our eating for KC BBQ.

NoTalent, A lot of small towns in the MidWest haven't reached the point where zoning becomes an issue. This may be the situation in Marshall...or as you say they may have been 'Grandfathered' (Literally!) I'd love to have a place like in my rural community that that I could walk to !!!

The Bar-B-Que Pit Stop was severely damaged by fire Sunday afternoon, March 29. Fire officials believe an unattended deep fryer was the cause.

Firefighters received a 911 call from the owner of Bar-B-Q Pit Stop at 3:57 p.m. Sunday, March 29.
When they arrived on the scene at 3:59 p.m., they found the building engulfed in flames. Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, which they did before returning to the fire station, ready for the next call, at 7:34 p.m.
 
The owner of the popular restaurant stated that he turned on the deep fryer and then went home for an unspecified period of time before returning to find his building on fire.
 
The structure was estimated by firefighters to have sustained $70,000 worth of damage, making it a total loss.
 
Damage to the building's contents was estimated at $100,000, four-fifths of firefighters' total estimated value of the contents, $125,000.

Thank you for giving an update on the building, I hope they build it back.  I love BBQ probably more than any other food.  After first seeing those pictures of the food I was thinking of making a trip up there just for this place.  I am glad I read down the rest of the post otherwise I would have made a trip for nothing.  Any new updates on this establishment?
