Before posting, let me explain that I have lived in metropolitan Kansas City for over 20 years and eat BBQ 2 or 3 times a week. When I was first in the area, I kept a list of the places I tried, but stopped counting at nearly 60, over 15 years ago.
For overall food, atmosphere and value, the best BBQ that I have found is B & C BBQ in the Old Town section of Wichita, Kansas. All of the meats are superior, the chicken is nearly the best I have had, and the pulled pork IS the best.
The side dishes are also stand outs. Good beans and potato salad, plus garlic coleslaw that I can't stop eating. This is a place for people that want a lot of flavor, not a place for a delicate palate.
And get this - it is an all you can eat buffet, with two people constantly carving and setting out new meats. Set in a former garage with a cement floor, garage doors, a chandelier, antique bar (but no liquor), and live blues (Saturdays only).
Only open for lunch, Monday - Saturday.
