Are in one of the test markets that have reintroduced BK's take on the Slyder?  Any takers?

I had a go with a pair (they come in sets of two).  With the wrapping, they look like a chicken sandwich.  I think the cashier thought I was being snide when I asked for one with cheese and one without (to which I retracted and said I just wanted them plain), as to see what they would taste like.

Now, I like the taste of a well-prepared ("fresh") BK burger.  Getting one that hasn't been nuked is the problem, and in this instance, I think my Burger Shots were aided with the help of that blasted heat ray, or BK just couldn't get the prep kinks down.  Quasi-dry around the edges...which isn't all that out of the ordinary at your local patio party, but for a miniature patty...?  It was definitely thicker than anything found at White Castle, but smaller than Chili's and Ruby Tuesday.  Tasted like a BK burger...nothing unique, only smaller.  One bite and a nibble later, I made the thing disappear.

NYC burger joints have a tendency to pass on mustard in your standard house condiment dressings, so I haven't the foggiest whether other places offering the burgers add it or not by their standards.  I think the price will and should kill this thing off.  Even with two of them, you get more sustenance from a single standard burger than the two Shots/Buddies, yet you pay at least .50 more for this set.

I wonder when McDonald's and/or Wendy's try to take a stab at them.  I think McDonald's may be in a decent position, with the meagerness of their patties and sogginess of their burgers to actually nail the concept.

I tried to get a fresh cooked burger there.  The manager told me they dont do it like that anymore.  All the burgers are nuked before they go out to heat them up.  Its such a shame.  I remember how great I thought they were years ago.

One would think that the chain grill would cook the burger thoroughly.  It used to...  Now the grills are set only to partially cook; with the nuking is used to finish the process.  While a medium cooked burger is perfect under the right circumstances; at BK it is a horrid experience; the meat is as tough as nails.

This, my friends, is the kind of nonsense that led to my writing off Burger King completely. In the words of the immortal Popeye, " 'At's all I can stands, I can't stands no more! "
