At the risk of stirring up the ire of all the "hate the chains" posters, has anyone tried the new Burger King Carolina Pulled Pork sandwich, or the carolina barbeque whopper? Just curious to know if they have any redeeming qualities. QFan Bonita Springs, fl

OMG. I've got to try it! It seems that every few years that BK comes up with an item that lures me in only to rediscover whay I hate then so. The last time was their "new fries". Now it is with my true love: Carolina 'Cue. So, here I go again! (Just like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football from Lucy's hold). I'll report back later this afternoon.

I'm the same way bout BK...try the new product then recall why I never go there. I tried the Texas Whopper with jalapenos....nothing special. One thing that surprised me is how expensive BK has become. The basic Whopper is $4.19 if you buy the sandwich only. The limited time Whoppers are more than that. It seems like it was not all that long ago that they were running a 99 cent special on the Whopper all of the time.

Since they changed from chain to infared cooking methods; I feel that their products have changed for the (much) worse.

I tried the Memphis pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork was overwhelmed with a sauce so sweet it made my teeth hurt. Absolutely vile; very much like the over-sauced "BBQ" one can find in the grocery store cooler, only worse. The "Carolina" BBQ is just a burger with what they claim is a sauce "with a hint of Carolina tang". Yikes! I passed on the sweet potato fries. The regular fries are really decent if you are lucky enough to have them served fresh out of the fryer. This time I was actually lucky on the fry front.

I tried the texas whopper and it was very average just some bbq sauce and jalapenos on the whopper. I also struck out on the sweet potato fries as mine weren't fresh but tasted OK. I'll give those another try. I passed on the bacon sundae.

After football practice yesterday, the grandboys elected to go to BK. I had seen ther advertisement regarding certain types of BBQ. I made a mistake and got the Texas whopper BBQ. The sauce is gross and I got two types. Neither was tasty to me. You cannot produce or replicate mass BBQ of any type. In my opinion, it was gross. Incidentally this was not a BBQ but a burger with sauce on the side. The did have a Memphis BBQ sandwich that I did not try. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

I would hate to imagine how hungry I would have to be to eat BBQ from Burger King.
