Bacon Waffles, bacon makes it better...

In the breakfast forum, there is discussion about a recipe from Aunt Jo'Mama and bacon pancakes. I mentioned bacon waffles. I have made them a lot and served them as a breakfast special. I broke out my trusty waffle maker and here we go... I lightly greased the inside, poured the batter in and placed some bacon on top of that. What is not shown is that I did pour the remaining batter over the bacon. Close and let it cook it for a while. Viola!!! Actually, dang!!! Usually when I make this, you can see the bacon better than this. Close scrutiny reveals some of it in the bottom corner. One trick that I used is that most waffle batters require a little melted butter or oil mixed in to help prevent sticking. I used the bacon grease instead...yummy. mark

My mom used to make these when I was little. Think I may have to give it a go myself.

ooooh - bacon always makes it better! Will try that in my next waffle batch, too.

We often use SPAM in our waffles. Place uncooked Spam on waffle iron....let cook briefly...then pour batter over it and bake.
