Bacon salt?

Here you go folks! For those of you that can't eat bacon for various reasons this is your chance. I might add that it claims to be Kosher also. www.baconsalt.com I haven't done a taste test as of yet, but I can think of some applications that it might work well with. It could replace celery salt on a hot dog for me. If you click on the link read the blogs. Chow Jim

When one of our friends is smoking meat, if he has space, he puts a cast iron skillet of kosher salt in along with it and makes smoked salt. I always have a big shaker of it in the kitchen. It's especially good on green vegetables and baked potatoes.

Why would anyone not be able to eat bacon? I can understand religious preferences, but true (natural) bacon flavor cannot be reproduced on the cuff. "Tasting Like Bacon" reminds me of nothing spectacular, BTW, other than a potential consumer rip-off. 'Kinda like "tasting like butter..."

I have heard raves about the Bacon Salt, what about the Baconnaise. That may be one of the greatest things I ever heard of....Baconnaise. My eyes glaze over into a Bacon induced trance just thinking of it on a Turkey Sandwich! Anybody try this yet?

Baconaise? My Mom said during the War (WWII) they would crumble one slice of bacon in a jar of homemade mayonaise and refrigerate overnight. The next day, everyone had bacon and tomato (from the garden) sandwhiches. I've tried it and it works. The bacon flavor goes all through the mayonaise.

I just came across this on Amazon's Deal of the Day. Bacon Salt Products Good prices, and a lot of choices. Of course as always with Amazon, free shipping on orders over $25 or for Amazon Prime members.

My cousin once made home made mini peanut butter/chocolate cups with minced bacon bits inside. Somehow, someway, the salty, sweet, peanuty, bacony, chocolaty flavors all melded into something wonderful. I could also see bacon salt on top of eggs.

I have the Pepper Flavored Bacon Salt. I do use it on eggs, and it is pretty good. It is similar in flavor to Bac-O's. I really like it on sauteed chicken breast for sandwiches. In regard to the peanut butter.... At Randy's Wooster St Pizza Shop http://hottestpizza.com/media/menus/2007_pizza.pdf they have a pie called "Skippy's Dare." Which, as you guessed it, has peanut butter, as well as provolone and bacon. Its actually pretty good.

I think it'd be good on popcorn. I used to pop corn in bacon grease.

It's great on sliced tomatoes or on tomato sandwiches. Haven't used it much beyond that.

I love their Kosher claim. It is Kosher as long as you don't put it on meat. Contains Milk.

mar52 I love their Kosher claim. It is Kosher as long as you don't put it on meat. Contains Milk. When I read this, I lauged out loud at my desk.... So I had to check it out for myself. Some of their products contain dairy, but not all. Kosher Certification K-1709 Yes, there are rabbis out there with enough chutzpah to certify things with bacon in the name as kosher. Fortunately, there is no such thing as eternal damnation in the Jewish faith. If you keep kosher, the good news is that all of J&D's products are Kof-K certified. Hickory, Peppered, Jalapeno, Maple, Applewood and Mesquite Bacon Salts are Kof-K Parve, while Original, Natural, and Cheddar Bacon Salts along with Regular and Lite Baconnaise are Kof-K Dairy. Please visit www.kof-k.org to learn more about Kof-K kosher certification.

I bought some over on woot! Sure, it is fake, but there are few foods so quite so worthy of emulation as bacon. I have used it on salads and in potatoes , on popcorn, and also on eggs and on some pizza ( just as a test). I will have to try it on BLTs, along with that baconaise trick!
