I love this site, but has anyone else been disturbed (translation: grossed out) by coming to the end of a thread, maybe one of the food photo ones, to be greeted at the end by the horribly graphic ad for psoriasis? Just wondering.....

Well, I for one am happy with the ads for one, my love of roadfood naturally gravitates me towards flexible trafic barriers, as I am sure is true for us all, so naturally I was thrilled when the ad at the bottom of this page as I read this thread was for flexible security bollards from Cal Pipe (http://calpipebollards.com/). I mean, hamburgers, hot dogs, lobster rolls, bbq, and flexible security bollards. That's what I'm talking about! I'm sure you all feel the same. Of course, then I hit refresh, and now Wendy's wants me to try their new steakhouse double melt. Ugh. More flexible security bollards, please.

If you think those psoriasis ads are gross, you should live with it all over your body like I do. It's loads of fun. You're either trailing a blizzard of white shed in your wake or leaving blood on your clothes and the furniture when the plaques crack and bleed. Then there's the constant, relentless itching......

Luckily I've yet to see one for PrepH. But if they where to generate one, a hot pepper or mexican topic would be the place...

Enginecapt, have you tried black walnut salve? One of my daughter have this and it was driving her crazy. I bought some out of desperation and it helps a great deal.

I've tried everything. I'll try anything. I take it that's a health food store item?

Enginecapt, I can sympathize. I have the problem too, but it comes and goes. For one full year over 10 years ago, I had it on the backs of my calves, and would alternate between scales and weeping sores. I would lie in bed at night and bang my legs against the mattress from the pain, yet at the same time, even a sheet laying on them was agony. It's never been that bad since, but I have flare ups. When I was in college, I had to wear long sleeves all the time because it was on the inside of my arms from wrist to elbow. Maybe it's because I identify too strongly with it that I hate to see the ads today. Also, I never had this problem before I was bitten by a brown recluse spider, which gave me a wound that took over five months to heal, and made a hole in my leg you could stick a finger into up to the first knuckle. I didn't even know what had happened until I freaked out because of how deep the hole became. They say venom from a brown recluse can alter your body chemistry for life. I can vouch for that.

But for the grace.... I seem to have some attraction for spiders. I get bit several times a year on average and count myself lucky that it's never resulted in any more then itching and large temporary bumps but I fear the brown recluse just hasn't caught up with me yet. I explained this odd spider attraction to my wife (when we were dating) and she thought I was making it up. Until she saw a spider actually jumping across our deck until it got to my leg. I actually killed a spider that had jumped on my arm while watching a movie at the theatre with my wife and kids....spiderman 2. The first time this happened was when I was 12 years old and walking through my parents garden. A LARGE yellow and black spider actually jumped off a small tree as I was walking by, landed on my shoulder, and bit me. It's been all down hill since then. Fear the brown recluse. (sorry to get so far off topic)

Larry, that's a trip! Glad you haven't had worse bites. I have a similar story...except mine doesn't involve pain of any sort and it's a different animal. Every where I have ever lived I have had a song bird of some kind that sings at night. No matter the hour, it could be 2 am and silent outside until I go out there and sit, then you hear the singing. I thought it was normal until I was grown and realized that song birds are not nocturnal usually. Strange the way animals interact with humans at times. Yes, I'm still up and bored.

"Of course, then I hit refresh, and now Wendy's wants me to try their new steakhouse double melt. Ugh. More flexible security bollards, please." "Web" Wendy's probably a bit better than the "real" ones. Sign on local Wendy's said today: "TRY OUR NEW DOUBLE MEIT BURGER". To each their own, I guess...

BhamBabe, I love your songbird story! Rib-rater, maybe you give off some kind of spider pheromone! My doctor told me it was the first brown recluse spider bite he had ever dealt with. Lucky me, I was able to provide the spider (it was under my pillow, and I put it between the pages of a book (ok, it was panic, and no, I'm not a bad housekeeper. They're attracted to warm dark places. I did, however use a dustbuster on my bed every night for about six months after that). Jeepguy, I could've gotten a LOT MORE GRAPHIC, so count your blessings.

I have the same thing (the spider and bird thing) with squirrels - they have literally jumped out of trees and landed on me. (more than once.) Sometimes if I stop in the forest to look at something - they will start climbing my legs - not bad if I am wearing jeans, but once I was wearing SHORTS. (I worried about getting rabies that time.) One time in the spring I was walking home through the park and turned around - all these squirrel mommies and their babies were following me. As I've gotten old, my appeal to squirrels (and humans, for that matter) has lessened. But I still get nervous when spring rolls around and the squirrels get active.

I tend to have an oppisite effect on some animals. When I walk onto my ex-farther inlaws farm the hoved animals have a tendancy to bolt. Can't figure it out, it must be the look in my eyes. Chow Jim
