Bad day at a WH

The family and I stopped for dinner at a WH in Winchester, VA and it was the worst experience we've ever had at one of their places.

Rude server, food not cooked to request and a dirty diner. We won't be going back to this one.

I stopped in one in Wytheville, Virginia last week for a cup of coffee and the servers and cooks were all sitting in a couple of booths talking. One waitress somewhat reluctantly got up to take my order and was most unpleasant, spilling some of the coffee when she placed it on the counter. Oh, and the place was definitely not up to the normal standards of cleanliness for a Waffle House.

well, I think I've only been to ones where you'd want to toss a hand grenade into.

except one, says my wife, who reminded me of a time we stopped on Christmas morning at a WH in Frederick on our way from DC to Syracuse. I don't remember it being a Waffle House, I just remember that nothing was open except one place and we need breakfast.
If it was indeed a Waffle House, this one was clean, very friendly and the breakfast was pretty darn good. and, you all know how hard that is for me to type.

We recently ate at WH (new store - Flat Rock Road, Columbus, GA) after a 2-3 year hiatus and I was appalled at the rude people working there. No "Hello!" when we came in, we had to seat ourselves, and the waitress reluctantly stooped to wipe about half of the filth off the table with a dirty rag. I HATED the new menu - no kid's menu, and I had to special order my beloved chicken and eggs. They messed up our order a little, too. On the bright side, the grits are still the best. We won't be going back to that one!

Not being jam packed at 11:00 on Sunday morning should have been a red flag...

No kid's menu? All the Waffle Houses I go to still have a kid's menu. Most no longer have a seniors menu, though.
