My daughter has been admitted to several law schools and we are going to visit them next week.
We will start at the U of Maryland's school which is located in Baltimore, then go to American Law school in DC. That is followed by William and Mary in Williamsburg, and we will end up at Wake Forest in Winston-Salem.
Does anyone have any ideas as to where to eat by these campuses? I would like to know a few places within walking distance. Thanks to all who reply. This board has never failed me yet.
.
My picks for each one that captures the flavor of the area
- I've been to all those locations
UMd Law:
Faidley's at Lexington Market for Crab Cakes in Baltimore. It's blocks from the Law School.
Miss Shirley's 750 E Pratt Street - a diner in name, but really soul/southern goodness
AU Law:
*
Chef Geoff's 3201 New Mexico Ave, NW: A NW DC popular spot - excellently prepared food
Two Amy's - true neopolitan pizza 3715 Macomb St, NW
Cactus Cantina - Tex Mex - fresh food, great margaritas 3300 Wisconsin Avenue
William and Mary:
King's Arm Tavern - colonial williamsburg - there are some other dining choices in Colonial Williamsburg, this one is my favorite and if you've never been before, is a real treat. But there are many non-colonial williamsburg restarants right there at the college that also have a colonial feel.
WFU:
*
Village Tavern - 221 Reynolda Village - not too far from campus, a sort of WFU/Winston tradition in quaint Reynolda Village. Most students consider it a parents-weekend, homecoming, first date staple.
The main student haunt is a place called
The Pit - it's the on campus eatery and is pretty good. When I was teaching in Thomasville, NC, my kids always begged to eat there when taking field trips to WFU music department concerts. But, if your daughter is going to go to school there, she may get sick of that place real quick once she's a student.
If you get a chance, visit Old Salem - a moravian community, and like Williamsburg, but on a smaller scale, a living museum. In the gift shop there are these moravian cookies, super thin ginger cookies - out of this world good (if you like ginger cookies).
