Barbeque blues - Wed, 09/3/08 12:08 AM ( #1 )
I just bought my daughter her first MacBook computer (we are used to PC) and in the Garage Music program for music making, in the samples, there is a clip called "Barbeque Blues". I wish I could publish it here, but in the meanwhile, what do you think is barbeque blues? What kind of musical instruments are required? Are there any groups or performers known for BBQ Blues? And lastly, is BBQ blues in red or blue states?

For those who are not blues fans, you could always pick up some Pere Ubu.

Mmm Hmmm play dem blues.

Now, I correct myself: I meant Garage Band on the Mac. I did a google and see there's lots of BBQ + Blues, festivals, etc. but I think they mean a "style" of blues.

Maybe it has lotsa licks.

(Thassa joke).

I think at least a pork rib for the higher notes, and a beef rib for the lower notes (bellicoso), beans for percussion-(can be basso continuo), and slaw for those flat notes.
Sharp notes require NC vinegar BBQ sauce, with extra hot sauce applied for some staccato pieces.
Maybe Scorereader can help me out here to fine tune a concerto?

As blues bass player AND a BBQ fan---i believe i can safely say that is NOT a style of Blues called Barbecue Blues--but--given the fact that blues and bbq are never far apart, i would not at all be surprised to find that there are LOTS of blues songs ABOUT BBQ! I know that we just put on the 18th annual Dusk till Dawn Blues fest here in Ok and there was PLENTY of barbecue there--including my fave local--Smokehouse Bob's out of Muskogee Ok!---i also know of blues musician that makes gumbo on stage during his shows and his last tune is about gumbo and when done --he serves it up to the audience! Gotta love them Blues folks!

My Barbeque blues....

They cooked it too dry
Wanted a breast, not a thigh
So don't ask me why
I got them barbeque blues

Out here in the northwest
They don't make it the best
So I am packing my chest
Got them barbeque blues

Some of the best you can get
Was on South Lafayette
No more shall I fret
About them barbeque blues

Yes I am headed back home
Not to Paris or Rome
Brisket in styrofoam
Got them barbeque blues
