In a recent article on hot dogs, the writer mentions a number of places he's gone to. Mostly in New York, with a few in New Jersey and Connecticut. His 2 favorite Connecticut hot dog places are Top Dog in Cos Cob, which serves a grilled natural casing Sabrett dog, and Chez Leonard, a cart that serves Hebrew Nationals. In the review on this site, I see that the dogs have the familiar casing (collagen) on them that I see in the Jewish delis that carry Hebrew National with skin. These are rare and not available in supermarkets.

Connecticut is known for outstanding hot dogs. The great majority are made out of beef and pork. The 2 places above serve all beef franks. I haven't been to either, and was wondering what our Connecticut friends think of them.

I grew up on Chez Lenard hot dogs! To this day they're the absolute best I've ever had.
