Does any one out there know of a place where I can get real beef jerky in the Duthess County , NY area? I'm not talking about the garbage you can by in the supermarkets. I mean real jerky like from a smokehouse. Thanks all....Mike

There are a number of on-line places where you can get the real deal. Most of the best jerky comes from TX. Here's one: http://www.woodys-smokehouse.com/ They have Beef, Buffalo, Elk, Venison, Pork and Turkey Jerky!

I have two small shops 30 min from me that make excellent jerky. Owen's meats is a family run butcher shop, Carek's, a hole in the wall that only does jerkey, sausages, etc. And....Owen's bacon is some of the best around. http://www.roadfood.com/F...f-Jerky-m21364-p2.aspx wheregreggeats.com about 100 miles east of Seattle, in Roslyn, Washington -- The tiny town where the Cicely, Alaska scenes in Northern Exposure were filmed -- is a place back up the road, next to the old junkyard that makes the best beef jerky I have ever eaten. It is called Carek's Market ... I think it used to be a wider-service butcher, but they now just do jerky, the assorted dried sausages and bacon. No presrvatives or chemicals, or odd flavors -- just basic, lean, tasty meat. Gregg, the next time you're up that way, go over to Cle Elum. Right across the street from the Cle Elum bakery on the main street through town is a butcher shop called Owens Meats that has the BEST beef jerky in the universe. I've often thought about moving up there just to be close to Owens. :-)

I will be glad to send you a sample of my jerky from Alma, Arkansas. I own and operate Swamp Mama's Beef Jerky. It's all gorumet beef jerky made from only USDA Choice eye of round. No big company here, just me, my wife and son. You can do a search for beef jerky on craigslist (Fort Smith, Arkansas) for my add. Thanks, Shannon
