You could make the Mongolian stuff fast and to go I think? And, like the guy in Bladerunner said "with noodles!". Hey, noodles are here to stay. :~) Here is an idea, thin sliced already cooked deli meat, fried up as ordered, with the noodles, on a flat cooker. It could get done FAST that way. This would need a new name I think. How bout Mongolian Noodles, or Ramen Monglian, or Mongolian Style Ramen. I'll have a cajun roast beef and jalapeno ramen please. I fry thin sliced deli meat to use for lotsa stuff. I use no oil. I am doing a salid w/ it tonight, smoked turkey. I am trying to make up for all the chili I have been eating. :~) Joe

I could do the mongolian thing. I mean that is basically what I am talking about, ONLY wok fried. I would rather use fresh, MAYBE par Cooked vegatables and meat. With a selection of sauce. I went to a Mongolian Bar be que once that was kinda how I could see doing it. Just with out the seating or wait staff. Like the raw food Buffet or somthing like that. I think the mongolian idea is what the wife and I had fromt he start, Just to go. Maybe even with a drive up. quote:Originally posted by PapaJoe8 You could make the Mongolian stuff fast and to go I think? And, like the guy in Bladerunner said "with noodles!". I'm a huge fan of Mongolian bbq's as well... I like the idea of selecting my own ingredients and having it cooked up in one to two minutes. For a fast place like that I'd keep the ingredients behind the counter but visible (like Subway), pre-cook some of the meats (especially chicken), and have a variety of different sauces. I still like ramen too, I'd definitely go to a place like that often if the food was good. We have a pasta place in town that does that kind of thing at lunch time... certain things are prepared in advance, you just get in line, tell them what you want and what you want on it, and you're out of there within a minute or three of ordering.

You should do the Ramen thing just like the Melting Pot Fondue. Dim the lights put a hot plate in the middle of the table with some boiling water. Let them pick there packet. The waiter could smack it a couple times to break it up. Explain the history of Ramen. Then open it and pour it into the water. Hang around for about 90 seconds and dump the flavor packet in. Then add some steamed vegtables a little ground beef, pork, or chicken. Top it off with Sriracha and charge 40 bucks. The tough question is which wine goes with Ramen? Day, people will come Day. They will come to your Ramen Restaurant for reasons they cannot fathom. They will drive into your parking lot, Not knowing for sure why they are doing it. They will arrive at your door as young adults longing for the past when they were broke and couldnt afford real food. Of course we wont mind if you take a seat its only $40 per person. They will pass the money over without even thinking about it. For its money they have and peace they lack. And they'll walk out to the tables, and sit in sportcoats and dresses on a perfect evening. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere near the kitchen, they will sit there anxiously waiting for the Maitre'd. And they'll watch him dump the Ramen in the bowl, and it'll be as if they'd dipped themselves in magic seasoned waters. The memories will be so thick, they'll have to brush them away from their faces with there forks. People will come Day The one constant through all the years, Day, has been Ramen. Broke Americans have eaten it like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, forgotten, and remembered again. But Ramen has marked the time. The noodles, the flavor packet, is a part of our past, Day. It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again. Ohhhhhhhh, people will come, Day. People will most definitely come. Taken from the movie Field of Dreams....Sort of....Russ You can Name the Restaurant Ramen of Dreams! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__X7ybW9Ljg&feature=related ...Enjoy

I think that the responses of ramen as a cheap meal is off. At many Asian markets, there are a large amount of variety in that section. Some of the stuff is not cheap at all. Many styles and flavors represent many countries there. I think that a ramen shop would work in a specified and select area. It would work in downtown or at a college. You just need to have a small space and keep the customer flow going. The answers that I seem to read forget that there are women who attend college too. They usually eat healthier than us guys, but where they go, we follow.... I would consider the 'Pinkberry' concept of a small, but brightly lit place. Make it look trendy and psuedo-Japanese/Asian. I would consider a few basic noodles and broths. Then you add your 'mix-ins'. Consider a wide variety of vegetables as they are a source of profit. People laughed when they wanted to start The Frittes Shoppe in N.Y. They only sell French fries with different dipping sauces. You can do the same thing with your specified niche. If you think your idea is crazy, I had a idea called World (Whirled) Wide Noodles. I'm still trying to figure out how to make the pun work better.... It would have been a larger place with a variety of noodle dishes from around the world. The truth is that this concept is being used already. The other truth is that I don't want to get ivolved with something of that scale. mark

I do not think my idea is crazy, just been tossing it around to figure out if its worth the go. The fresh vegatables, sea food and fresh meats are what would make it a healthy meal. quote:Originally posted by doggydaddy I think that the responses of ramen as a cheap meal is off. I think Rice would be a fine offering as well. Its easy to keep steamed. The wok would be there. I cold offer cutome stir fried rice and noodle. Both would be fast. Now, is there room for the profit in the price points I wanted? Maybe get some of the growing mexican customers. I could call it Mi' Noodle. Sorry, I just had to. quote:Originally posted by Russ Jackson day I think it would work also all kidding aside. I think I might offer rice as well though....Russ
