Bengals Pregame ?

Heading to the Bengals game Sunday. Looking for somewhere to eat and grab a beer before the game. I would like it to be within walking distance of the stadium. Thanks.

Look up The Banks, it's a new area between the stadiums that has all manner of new bars and restaurants.

Or if you like to walk a bit, you can walk across the river on the Purple People Bridge to Kentucky, where there are more of the above.

There is unfortunately nothing I'd really consider roadfood-ish within walking distance of the stadium AND open on Sunday

All of the eats at the restaurant area just east of the stadium are very pricey and very corporate.  Of those eateries, the one I hear the most good about (but still can't recommend) is the Moerlein Lager House http://www.moerleinlagerh...unch_Menu_June2012.pdf

If "short walk" includes up to a mile, I recommend Zola's for a very good pub-style burger: http://www.zolapubandgrill.com/Burger.html.  Most of the walk would be across a bridge from Covington's Mainstrasse area

Another long-ish walk but good eats and low prices would be Tacqueria Mercado, but they close for 3 hours on Sunday between 2 and 5.  If you're going to a 1pm game, this should be fine, but 4pm, not so much :-)

Many of the good places near downtown are closed on Sundays, even when the Bengals are playing.  There are many crappy and/or expensive joints that are open, however.

Food trucks - one or more of them might be at the game, and they usually have calendars on their webpage, but I cant access most of them from work

    so check their websites

Thanks for the help. I'm thinking we'll have a drink at "O'Malleys in the Alley": and a beer at "Moerlins Lager House". Food options seem kind of limited which is a bummer.

The food at Moerlein is reportedly fairly good....its just expensive for what you get.  I have heard a fair amount of praise for the beer can chicken

On the other hand, if you wait to eat until you get inside the stadium - it'll be expensive AND suck

There is a bar directly across from the stadium, called HeadFirst (3rd St.), and they usually have someone set up on the side of the bar selling some kind of food (BBQ or burgers & dogs~nothing fancy).

O'Malley's food is not all that, but I really enjoyed their salami "smashie", which is kinda like a panini.

I really enjoyed Moerlein Lager House, and didn't think it was that expensive, for what we got. Great quality, everything made from scratch. I was expecting mediocre food, but it was so much more. I was very impressed.

Since they do tailgating on Fountain Square (5th & Vine Sts.), you may find some food trucks there, as well.

Well put. I did enjoy the $11 reuben at Moerlein.

To be fair, any downtown restaurants near sports venues are expensive.
