Gee, I hope that wasn't too political.

A LOT of folks who live in this area, including myself, think that Ben's Chili Bowl has pretty good RoadFood. Whether it (BCB) is "Chic" or not is of little interest to most of the locals. If the Obamas like to visit BCB, more power to them. I will continue to visit the joint when I am on business in DC.

Ben's is a great place. B'fast is really good. Celebrities aside, it remains a DC roadfood staple.

I'm glad Mrs. Sarkozy had the good sense to go to an authentic Washington restaurant.

I'm unsure who was in the dining contingent, but local news reported only one half smoke was ordered. The others chose cheeseburgers.

I think if Carla Bruni Sarkozy went to the 7-11 it automatically becomes chic.

Doug, Always on top of breaking news, WTOP reported that there were 2-3 children in the group and they ordered burgers and fries, and that Mrs. Bruni-Sarkozy ordered a bowl of chili.

Chic or not I'll still go there any chance I get. Usually 2x a year. I've fond that their carry-out isn't a great choice for a half-smoke with chili. I've been known to bring my own Glad ware container and just get a double order on a plate. Then move the extra to the Glad ware. The Glad ware then goes into a shopping bag. A lot of the black D.C. politicians, from Obama on down, like to be seen eating there. I think all D.C. politicians know they need to be seen there. But who can blame any of them? Ben's has some good food.
