I posted this suggestion on another topic regarding eateries in this area of California, but risking repeating myself I will whole heartedly suggest you visit one of the many locations of Armadillo Willey's BBQ. We visit the one in Capitola as it is the closest to us, but I am sure any of the other locations are just as good. Someone rightly so suggested Cetnral Texan BBQ, both are good, but Armadillo Willeys has it's own charm. The ribs are great, but so is the half chicken, don't miss the fries. Here is the website where you can find the closest location for your travels. www.armadillowillys.com. Have a great trip.

Post Away, Mimsy. The more the better. What about kid friendly places around the waterfront/pier in SantaCruz?

Dino and Mimsy, Nice to see (and read) your comments on the Central Texan. One doesn't expect to see a BBQ place near the ocean and among all the artichoke fields...but there it is in Castroville. We have stopped there every trip anywhere near it over the years. Remember it is closed Mondays and Tuesdays...but any other day is a fine time to enjoy the combination plates... Plenty of good stuff and moderate (for West Coast) prices.

quote:Originally posted by Peachpie9 You know, you guys should see about getting a baseball team to play in that nice park! (*donning foil hat*) You should understand that the present occupants BOUGHT AND PAID FOR that park, along with its REAL GRASS, not the taxpayers of San Francisco, and so "we guys" don't have much say about who plays there. The taxpayers of numerous other cities with baseball parks should be so lucky. But I will say that I personally don't care if they actually play the game there. I just enjoy watching Barry and a few others hit balls into the water and the resulting scramble. Until they built that park, it never occured to me that a baseball would float (transiently).

Laramie, WY Overland Cafe on Iverson. Very nice food and view of the rail yard. Lots of cars in motion SLC has a very good assortment of ethnic food. There is a very good and reasonable Mediterranean place. If your interested I'll get the name from some friends. Wendover has the casino buffets. If your driving through during the week the room rates are dirt cheap. Winnemucca, Las Margaritas. Great Mexican Sacramento, Frank Fats. As good as Chinese gets. Sacto has numerous good places. Berkley is the West Coast home of the Slow Food movement. my 2 cents
