There is no way I would be able to say there is one burger better than any other burger any where on the planet. I am not really a burger expert, tho I do know good food when I taste it. Home burgers on the grill are great, and I've had the Beanie Burger at the Gahanna Grill and that is great also. And I'm not a true chain fan but recently had a burger at Applebee's that I truly enjoyed, it was quite tasty, and quite differet; it was a burger on grilled Focaccia bread, with mozarella and pesto and it was delicious. Now I hope this won't tend to drum me out of the corps, but we seldom go to a chain restaurant, and the day we went to Applebee's was a fluke, as our local Mom and POp favorite had a problem in that their gas line has been inadvertently cut and they were unable to cook anything, so we ended up at Applebee's, therefore the burger I described. It really was good and I would go back for another one anytime I might want a burger. I think probably one of the reasons it was so good was due to the fact that it was on grilled Focaccia bread with the pesto....love pesto on anything, and when can you go wrong with Focaccia? Donna

Workingman's Friend in Indianapolis has wonderful cheeseburgers. It's a local, slightly divey, very comfortable bar that wins awards every year for its burgers, and rightfully so. Thin patties, incredibly juicy, lettuce and tomato that taste like they came out of someone's garden....yum.

I haven't eaten at the Love Shack yet but, this restaurant is very highly regarded. I'm actually planning on including the Love Shack on my restaurant itinerary for my next foray into Ft. Worth.

Another good place in Dallas is Hole in the Wall on Harry Hines. A true dive with excellent vittles.

According to all the ads. the best burger in Nashville is at Hardee's. Fortunately, you can find it at several locations!

Lion's Tap is in Eden Prairie, MN. I have to respectfully disagree -- I wouldn't even put it in the top five in Minnesota much less call it the "Best in the US".

Can't wait to try Puckett's. Fat Mo's, a local chain in Nashville, does a fantastic burger. And yes, Five Guys Burgers and Fries is a chain, but their burgers are fine.

Some years ago there was a Hardee's a block or so away from the Brickyard. It's now an Auto Parts store.

There is a rather new place in the Dallas Metroplex area- Big Star- located in Rowlett, right on the square. Really good, juicy burger and the sides are good too. They even offer a basket half fries, half onion rings....for those who can't make up their minds!

I’ll agree with you regarding Big Star… My father lives in Rowlett and my wife and I popped in there after visiting him. Burger was mighty fine and I thought the onion rings were excellent

I never order a burger when I eat out, it is something that I can always do better myself.

I agree that my fresh-ground, homemade burger is vastly superior to most anything I can get at a restaurant, but I still can't resist ordering one out when I'm at a joint that is reputed to offering a great one. Usually I'm disappointed, but on occasion, like at Moe's Downtown Tavern 5 Cumberland St, Charleston, SC, they deliver the goods. pb

Voted Best Burger in America in 2006 was Le Tub in Hollywood Beach, FL. I thought it may be a typo but then I went and had one last weeekend and sure enough, I understand why... It's HUGE, fresh, not frozen, and cooked perfectly. Le Tub Restaurant, A1A, Hollywood FL

Just for clarification purposes....Le Tub was not "voted" the best anything, to my knowledge. It was one article in GQ, written by one writer, Alan Richman, who claims to have sampled all of 162 burgers to compile HIS Top 20. The article can be found here: http://men.style.com/gq/features/full?id=content_2526 It is the subject of another thread on the topic, where some people have strong feelings on either side of the Tub. People have bashed his list, but I can say that I have eaten at four of the places listed and have not been disappointed in any of the choices. Not trying to provoke an argument, but voting, to me, indicates something of a democratic process where many people choose a winner. Perhaps Le Tub has won something like that, but I am only aware of this article's designation of "best burger," and it is one man's opinion.
