Wow,  the Dew Drop Inn of Jimmy Buffett fame did not even make the list?

Saw a best burgers in 50 states list a short while ago that gave top honours in AL to Chez Fon Fon, in Birmingham. Looked like a good burger, but I was disappointed they left the Dew Drop Inn off, too.

Chez Fon Fon puts out a good bistro style burger.
Too bad Green Acres on 29th avenue ceased burger production (they'd been pattying out beef since 1940) in favor of all fried chicken all the time.
Giglio's Eat Shop in Bessemer was another good one that's lost to the sands of time...as is Joe and Deb's in Woodlawn and OT's in Southside.
Hell, I could name a good dozen that are now shuttered.
    RIP Vera's.
That's why it's so important to enjoy what we have while we have it, you'll never know when it's gone.

Next time I make it to Bessemer I'll have to have one of Bob Syke's burgers (along with some BBQ and their otherworldly delicious pies). They run a special on them once a week and they must be selling the heck out of them to keep doing it.

Vicki's Lunch Van in Montgomery won. It's not a van, it's a diner, and expect a 90 minute wait http://www.al.com/enterta...een_hopping_at_vi.html
