I have never even thought to order fried shrimp at
Dixie Crossroads. If I am going there, I am getting the rock shrimp - broiled. The one time I was there and they didn't have rock shrimp, I ordered something else (honestly, I don't even remember what it was), and I remember thinking that the next time I come, I am calling ahead to make sure that they have rock shrimp.
They do have an extensive menu, but I have never been impressed with anything there but the rock shrimp. Maybe I will have to give the fried a try the next time I am in a pickle.
I will second the nomination of
O'Steen's as the best fried shrimp (certainly in northern Florida). I was also a fan of the shrimp at the now-departed
Anchor Line on Folly Beach (near Charleston).
