Grew up on and love kolache...but all of ours were sweet. My favorite - poppyseed followed by rasberry.

Yeah, Sounds like a winner to me. I must ask my Czech cousin in Prague if he likes the Jalopena' Pig Kolache!!?? I tried a couple of the Jalopena Cheese version at Greens Meat market last winter and really liked them! I too thought that all Kolache were fruit-filled or cream-cheese . It wasn't til we visited the Tex-Czechs that we discovered the sausage and pepper versions. I am not sure of the European Czechs do meat kolache???

ChiTown Texas Kolache and Chicago area Kolacky are totally different animals. Lived in Tx for a while and never noticed the spelling, Till I saw them. Texas are different fillings stuffed in a bread type dough. poppyeed is also my favorite Kolacky

Tommy2dogs - Thanks! Hoping to make the Austin Tour in Spring of 2008 and hope to find a few of the Texas variety to try.
