Don't wanna dream about you , Baby.

My heart took a beating from the lyin' and cheatin'
She really knows how to hurt
So I guess I'm lucky I'm outta the clutches
I can't forget good she looks
One taste of the bait is worth
The pain of the hook

I'm all dressed up for the dance
A white sports coat and a pink carnation
I'm all alone in romance

And for those who now can't stand not remembering the rest of that Marty Robbins song:

Once you told me long ago
To the prom with me you'd go
Now you've changed your mind it seems
Someone else will hold my dreams
A white sports coat and a pink carnation
I'm in a blue blue mood.
I'm all dressed up for the dance
I'm all alone in romance
Once you told me long ago
To the prom with me you'd go
Now you've changed your mind it seems
Someone else will hold my dreams
A white sports coat and a pink carnation
I'm in a blue blue mood.

I saw her snatch her suitcase from the window
I held her but a moment in the rain
I kissed as she started for the station...

And in a similar cadence:

Who you been lovin' since I been gone?
A long tall man with a red coat on.
Good-for-nothing-baby you've been doing me wrong.
Who you been lovin' since I been gone?
Who you been lovin' since I been gone?

a very strange enchanted boy,
they say he wandered very far, very far, over land and sea,
a little shy,
and sad of eye,
but very wise was he

Warren Smith's version of this song is my favorite:

And then one day,
One magic day he came my way.
We spoke of many things,
Fools and kings
This he said to me ....

 Ah, Nature Boy. Nat Cole.

But before you go thinking I'm all classy and stuff, the other song that's been stuck in my head all day is 'Monster' by Lady Gaga, specifically:

he
ate
my
heart
he
a-a-a-ate my heart

Baby I don't know
what I think of us
Won't be here tomorrow
I get so mixed up
It's a shame that we're not living in the country
A place that I once seen before
In a book you've always loved, but never showed me
You know I never lost before

Went to a Dionne Warwick concert many years ago at the Carter Baron Ampetheater in DC, an old and I do mean old black group opened for her and sang this song, the place rocked with it!

I listen to Nat King Cole quite a lot actually.  My favorite song is 'Sweet Lorraine.'

About 150 years ago I was flying TWA from New York to Dallas while returning from leave and we were diverted to Midland-Odessa because of weather. Among the passengers aboard was the Nat "King" Cole Trio. They had a date in Dallas -- at the Adolphus, if memory serves. When it appeared that we'd be stuck there for several hours, The Nat "King" Cole Trio performed in the airport bar for over two hours, playing what they felt like and taking requests. That was a most wonderful experience. What a gracious man he was.

Oh, and Sweet Lorraine was one of the numbers. So were Nature Boy and Mona Lisa

Anyone who can equally like Theola Kilgore and Moe Bandy is welcome to join me and my friends at our monthly Friday night Beer drinking/Music listening sessions. Either or both are likely to turn up on the playlist, along with anything and everything else in  between. Tonight's show starts in about 1/2 hour...

"Oh You can say that I'm the one curly fry in the box of a regular
Messing with the flavor, oh the flavor that you savor
Saving me for last, but you better not eat me at all
Living in a fastfood bag making friends with the ketchup and salt
People say that I'm crazy for not moving on to better things
Instead of sitting around trash talking with the onion rings
But it's much too soon to leave this easy life
Pass me the spoon, pass the analytical knife" - Too Much Food by Jason Mraz
