Hast Du etwas Zeit für mich
Dann singe ich ein Lied fuer Dich
Von 99 Luftballons
Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont
Denkst Du vielleicht grad' an mich
Dann singe ich ein Lied fuer Dich
Von 99 Luftballons
Und dass sowas von sowas kommt

She said I'm sorry baby I'm leaving you tonight
I found someone new he's waitin' in the car outside
Ah honey how could you do it
We swore each other everlasting love
She said well yeah I know but when
We did - there was one thing we weren't
Really thinking of and that's money -
Money changes everything

I once loved a lass and I loved her sae weel,
I hated all others who spoke of her ill,
But now she’s rewarded me well for my love,
For she’s gaun tae be wed tae another.

This land is your land This land is my land
From California to the New York island;
From the red wood forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and Me.

And,

He walked all over his own growin' land
From the New York island to the California sand
He saw all the people that needed to be seen
Planted all the grass where it needed to be green
And now he's bound for a glory all his own
And now he is bound for glory

Ain't it just like the night to play tricks when you're tryin' to be so quiet?
We sit here stranded, though we're all doin' our best to deny it
And Louise holds a handful of rain, temptin' you to defy it
Lights flicker from the opposite loft
In this room the heat pipes just cough
The country music station plays soft
But there's nothing, really nothing to turn off
Just Louise and her lover so entwined
And these visions of Johanna that conquer my mind

And I followed her to the station, with a suitcase in my hand
And I followed her to the station, with a suitcase in my hand
Well, it's hard to tell, it's hard to tell, when all your love's in vain

Glass half empty, glass half full
Depends on the day, depends on the fool who is asking
And the fool who replies
You're gonna driink it up anyway
Does it really matter what you say?
Raise your cup to another day
In this big ole life

Heard of a van that is loaded with weapons
packed up and ready to go
Heard of some gravesites, out by the highway
a place where nobody knows
The sound of gunfire, off in the distance
I'm getting used to it now
Lived in a brownstone, lived in the ghetto
I've lived all over this town

I met a gin-soaked barroom queen in Memphis

Ziggy played guitar

Picture yourself in a boat on a river

I, love the colorful clothes she wears,

Wild thing, you make my heart sing

Thing to me is, I love seeing the first verse, and seeing a few verses quoted. But sometimes, just the first line (or two) evokes the whole song. Not always, and not always even for great songs. But sometimes.

I was waltzin' with my darlin' to the Tennessee waltz

Got a good reason, for takin' the easy way out

Left a good job in the city

There must be some way out of here

Once upon a time, dressed so fine, do the bums a dime in your prime

I came crawling home last night, like many nights before:
I finally made it to my feet as she opened up the door.
And she said, "You're not gonna do this anymore."

She said: "I'm gonna' hire a wino to decorate our home,
"So you'll feel more at ease here, and you won't have to roam.
"We'll take out the dining room table, and put a bar along that wall.
"And a neon sign, to point the way, to our bathroom down the hall."

She said: "Just bring your Friday paycheck, and I'll cash them all right here.
"And I'll keep on tap - for all your friends, their favorite kinds of beer.
"And for you, I'll always keep in stock, those soft aluminum cans.
"And when you're feeling macho, you can crush them like a man."

She said: "We'll rip out all the carpet, and put sawdust on the floor.
"Serve hard boiled eggs and pretzels, and I won't cook no more.
"There'll be Monday night football, on T.V. above the bar.
"And a pay phone in the hallway, when your friends can't find their car."

She said: "You'll get friendly service, and for added atmosphere.
"I'll slip on something sexy, and I'll cut it clear to here.
"Then you can slap my bottom, every time you tell a joke.
"Just as long as you keep tipping, well, I'll laugh until you're broke."

She said: "Instead of family quarrels, we'll have a bar-room brawl,
"When the Ham's bear say's its closing time, you won't have far to crawl.
"And when you run out of money, you'll have me to thank.
"You can sleep it off next morning, when I'm putting it in the bank."

When my daughter was about 13, we were riding around doing nothing, and she was in the middle of a thing where she was thinking that her dad's CD collection maybe had some good stuff in it, but she didn't want to go listening through it on her own because she might turn up a bunch of crap. So we went out riding, and I brought 3 CDs with me... And I started with Let it Bleed. The opening guitar figure snaked its way out of the air, and then the riff grew, and then Mick, and Yvonne... and when it was over, she hit the "repeat" button. And did it twice more. We never got to Revolver or Blonde on Blonde that day, although we did later (I took her and a friend to see Dylan for her graduation present last year). We just listened to Let it Bleed, over and over. Just like we did as kids in 1969.
