President's Choice makes wonderful cookies. Strawberry cream Dare cookies and Peak Freans bourbon creme are great, too. I've always liked the chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies at Costco, as well.

Oh yeah, I've always had a thing for rainbow Chips Ahoy! cookies, and the cream sandwich Chips Ahoy! ones. I'm not particular when it comes to the flavour of the cream ;)
That also reminds me of the Chips Ahoy! my baba used to buy me. They had them here years ago. They were regular chocolate chip cookies, but the flat side was covered with milk chocolate, and there were thin milk chocolate stripes drizzled on top. I'm sure they had them in the US at one point, as well. I miss them.
And E.L.Fudge s'more cookies by Keebler are like...wow...

Famous Amos used to be good until Kellogg bought them out. Then Mrs. Fields used to be good until she turned to franchising. Peggy Lawton, a small bakery in the northeast, is my favorite store-bought cookie. There packaging may be dated but their quality has been consistently good for decades.

Pepperidge Farms cookies are the best by far! Then Nabisco. Also agree with the people who love Peggy Lawton cookies!

I love all the cookies Archway brings out at holiday time. We like Famous Amos still but don't really buy many cookies until this time of year, and Archway makes such a nice assortment that I wouldn't think of trying to bake Christmas cookies.

Getting quite lazy in my declining years, I guess.

OK. They may not be store bought but I buy them from a card table outside the store. Those little cookie nazis that call themselves Girl Scouts sell me my absolute favorite Samoas.

Hey,
My favorite cookie of childhood is no longer made. Does any one remember (from the 50's) a Nabisco cookie that was a marshmallow between two of their vanilla cookies? My grandfather worked for Nabisco and brought many types home, but they were my favorite. I don;t even remember the cookie's name. They were packed in a long narrow box of a single row, Just right for a lunch!! Any help out there.

I think that Walkers Shortbread is probably the best store bought cookie out there -- particularly their "home bake" variety. Check out the list of ingredients:

Wheat flour, butter, sugar, salt

That's it, nothing else is in their shortbread cookies!

Has anyone mentioned Milano double chocolates yet? I'm not normally a sweets person, but I make an exception for these.

MATT'S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES, a Chicago/Milwaukee area product. Very good soft cookies. Easy to eat half a bag.

Oreos - I prefer Double Stuff or fudge coated, Sue thinks that's overkill. Funny, I never liked them as a kid but have grown quite fond of them.

Milanos - the regular, mint, or the double-thick chocolate ones. Pepperidge Farm cookies seem to have lost something over the years but these (and the sugar cookies) still do it for us.

Those Walkers Shortbreads are fantastic.

Bergers - not a favorite of ours, but we tried some for the first time not too long ago and they are unique and interesting. But really too too much.

Used to love Freihofers chocolate chip cookies when we were in school in Upstate NY in the 70's. Distribution was very limited in those days, and they had a sort of cache, like Coors beer (believe it or not) back then for Easterners. We used to bring boxes of them back from Syracuse. Recent samplings proved to us that either we've changed or the cookies did. But then we don't know anyone who craves Coors anymore either...

Another vote for Walkers Shortbread. It stands alone without equal.

Freihofer's Chocolate Chip Cookies are a regional legend, but the company was sold years ago. The quality as it was, suffered. The legend does live on though through the smoke rings of memory when SUNY students were devoted to the blind munchies. The quality of the product dissipated as fast as the smoke rings did, yet the memory lingers.

I do wonder if the Freihofer's nostalgia is nostalgia for the cookie or the smoke.

YES the Pepperidge Farm Brussels and all the Pepperidge Farm cookies! I also love most of the Archway cookies, Pecan Sandies, and Toll House cookies (though homemade Toll House are better).
