Best Store-Bought Cookies

OK, I'm a good baker. But I'm a busy person, so baking is reserved for when I have the time to enjoy it.

To this end, I am curious as to what store-bought cookies you like. Fancy, plain, guilty pleasure...'fess up!

I have to say that I like those cream horns things...anything with white, non-nutritious creamy filling basically has my name on it. I used to love HyDrox cookies, but they don't taste the same anymore. Oh, and I love those wafers with the frosting (and I've read that the Sterns like those, too -- the ones that come in chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry)!

But I need some new junk food ideas -- so share your favorites! Thanks in advance!

By far the best chocolate chip cookie is made by Matt's (may be local to Chicago). They are soft and chewy, almost as good as what I make.

I'm not a "sweet person".. But have tried Mrs. Fields.. Not bad... But as mentioned above, Pricey.. I have too many freinds that bake, and I have the opportunity to enjoy that... I have no need to go out and purchase any... Just an occasional donation to the cause... Keeps me happy!

Trader Joe's sells some pretty good cookies called "Lacies". They come in almond or macademia nut with chocolate filling.

Mrs. Fields has lots of clones these days and they are all pretty good, but I've had single cookies (OK, they were big) that cost me $1.50 at these places.

Here in New York,NOTHING beats Freihofers chocolate chip cookies..of course, just about anything Freihofer's does is gooood...they make the best bread products too-easily better than Hostess/Wonder or any other of the 'supermarket'type bread makers...

Some of the best of the so-called 'big' cookie makers stuff (Nabisco,Keebler, etc),are the Keebler shortbread cookies- the cinnamon swirl ones are to literally DIE for...lol

not to mention a weakness for the big soft Archway chocolate chips....

Oooh! I'd forgotten Freihofers! I used to buy those cookies a million years ago when I went to college in upstate NY. You are right, they are amazingly good. Can't get them in the stores around here, though...

I generally prefer soft cookies over crisp ones, but Nabisco makes a cookie which I first had in Mexico, called Morelianas. A vanilla sandwich cookie with orange filling, now I can find them here in the Dalas area.

    Oreos, sometimes.

    Raspberry Newtons.

Italian or British cookies from Big Lots.

    Pepperidge Farms Milanos; orange, raspberry.

    Walkers Shortbread.

    Oatmeal cookies from Whataburger.

Cookies from the Asian grocery stores, including palmiers.

Mexican style oatmeal raisin cookies (from the panaderia).

None of the above were in any certain order.

But there is nothing like homemade!

Anna's Thins are one of my favorites, thin crispy simple little wafers - I especially like the Almond Cinnamon and Lemon.

I used to be able to find apricot filled sugar cookies from Archway but I haven't seen them in awhile, otherwise I like their Frosted Lemon cookies.

Anything with almonds and shortbread:) Those pecan sandies are wonderful! and also my favorite cheap cookie are those butter flower ones that have the hole in the middle. When I was a little girl I used to wear them on all of my fingers and snack away. Good thing my mom made me run in the field all day lol!

Try Target's own brand of chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies. I think they're called Archer Farms or something like that. Really good!

My favorite to this day - but they're really not "store-bought"- are Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies. Try them crushed, in a parfait with vanilla ice cream, creme de menthe, whipped cream and a cherry!

Yep, Bergers are great. But I wish they made them with vanilla frosting instead of just chocolate.

Regarding Hydrox, no I haven't had them in years. Sorry I can't be more help!

Yes we are lucky here in the Baltimore area, home of Berger's Cookies. Even better are the sugar cookies baked by Otterbein's Bakery. Extremely thin, in cutout shapes, they have just a hint of lemon to them.

Here we go again. While technically correct in that all posters have replied as to "store bought", just how many of these "brands" spoken of are available nationwide??? I suspect not too many.

I really like Peggy Lawton Chocolate Chip cookies, the ones that come in a 3 pack wrapped in cellophane. I think this is a regional thing in New England; I've enjoed them my entire life. Also, pecan sandies, lemon coolers (copies, actually, don't think the real ones are made anymore), Walkers shortbread, orange and raspberry milano's. We are fortunate to have a brazilian grocery near us; the flavored sugar wafer cookies they have are addictive.
