Best burger for a buck

There is a whole thread on the McDonald's $1 double cheeseburger. It must be popular. Today, I decided to do a head to head comparison between the McD entry, and the Burger King competition, the Whopper Jr. I went to Grafton Street in Worcester, Mass where both chains have stores that are very close to each other. I bought a burger at each place and ate them side by side. First, both are a bargain and well worth the dollar. Each had high points. The BK burger was barely warm. I did wait about 5 minutes to eat it, so the fault could be mine. The lettuce was crisp, and the roll was on the edge of being stale. The McD sandwich was hot and on a wonderful, fresh, fresh, toasted bun. It was a little greasy, and dripping, but not in a bad way. I liked the seasoned flavor of the McD burger better than the more plain BK meat. If I had it "my way", I'd take the McD burger with the BK lettuce, but then I doubt that it would be a dollar. Today McD was the clear winner. The service at both places was perfect, even though I was only spending a dollar (plus tax).

I vote for the Sonic Burger. Dressed like a whopper but easily twice the size of either of the two you mentioned. Of course, you have to buy 5 sonic burgers to get them for $1 each..and then only on Tuesdays after 5 pm...but tomorrow is Tuesday!

I like to put one a couple packets of hot picante sauce to spice it up. Even better!

I found the McDonalds's double cheeseburger to have too much meat. I prefer their regular cheeseburger. I also like Wendy's Junior Cheeseburger (I hate it when they screw up and give me the Junior Bacon burger instead. I can't stand mayo).

I guess I have no great illusions about fast food, or any chans. However, I drop in, once in a while. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_and_Tasty I like the Big and tasty...for my buck Most of our CA .99 end up $ 1.07 with taxes. Big and tasty, good deal, for the buck, in my opnion.

Eight items -- from Big N'Tasty burger (with lettuce and tomato) to a Fruit N'Yogurt Parfait and Value Fries -- will sell for $1 each. The burger and a McChicken fried sandwich bow Oct. 4. National ads support the push.<snipped> I'm in a suburb of Sacramento, and all the McD's near me feature it on their value menu.

2 Double Cheeseburgers and a LARGE Vanilla Shake. Same order every time me's enters a McD's. Down the hatch, and forget about hunger for at least 12 hrs. AT LEAST!

Big and Tasty's are $1 here locally and have been for a long time. What we DON'T have is the double cheeseburger for a buck!! I don't understand it. They even show the darn commercials on TV for it but when we ask for it we are told they don't offer that. Pffft
