Best lemonade Fri, 04/22/11 11:19 AM (permalink)
Anyone know any good places to get fresh squeezed lemonade from Ohio to Florida going down either I-77 or I-75? I have been craving it since I use to get the real thing at county fairs years ago.

Yes, I know references to chain restaurants can get slammed here but....
The lemonade at Chick-fil-A is made daily from FRESH SQUEEZED lemons and is excellent.

Well, it's a chain, but Chick-Fil-A sells fresh-squeezed lemonade.  The manager of the location nearest me says he goes through 50 cases of lemons a week.  (Of course, someone may know of some Roadfood-style places that serve it.)

Thanks for the recommendation for Chick-Fil-A. I guess I should be more specific. I am looking for the old fashioned concession stands that make the lemonade with confectioners? sugar. Sometimes these concessionaires will set up trailers in front of shopping areas and such. I've had different chain restaurants fresh squeezed but I think what makes the lemonade different and much sweeter is the sugar.

Confectioners sugar is just sugar grounded into a finer powder.  It dissolves faster but doesn't render a different or better taste.  I am a bit of a lemonade snub but am happy with the Chik-Fil-A product as it meets all my criteria.
            1. Made fresh daily.
            2. Juice from hand squeezed lemons.
            3. Sweetened with real cane sugar.
Seriously, have you ever tried it?

I can agree the amount of sugar (net weight) will contribute to taste variations, but I can't imagine a discernable taste difference between white sugars of different grinds.  Of course, I could be wrong.

Make some at home before you leave. Put it in Milk Jugs and put them in a cooler with some ice.

I like the lemonade at Auntie Annes Pretzels. I usually get regular but they also have strawberry lemonade that is very good.

Haven't tried Chik-Fil-A's lemonade yet. We have one here so I'll give it a try. We have a Penn Station sub shop here too and I tried theirs. It didn't do anything for me. There is something about that sugar along with the fresh lemons that makes it for me. We actually had a concession stand in Wooster Ohio called Lerch's donuts. They made the old fashioned county fair lemonade. i haven't been out that way for a while so they may not be there any longer. I might have to wait until the fairs open. If I run across any in my travels i'll certainly post them.
