I have had little success lately with good hot dogs so I got pissed off Monday and threw caution to the wind. I fired up the grill and cooked myself a couple of Sabrett's over straight hickory wood while fixing the wife our now famous Jamacian Jerked burgers.

To go on the dogs, Witche's Brew from scratch, what else...LOL. Best hot dogs I have had since I was a kid.

I recently had the pleasure of watching 2 young boys (7+8)while their parents were at a wedding, not really grandkids but close as their moms grew up with my daughters. After a couple hours drowning shrimp and a trip to the park we threw some hotdogs on the grill, opened a can of hormel chili added a bit of left over taco meat, some grated cheese (niether one likes onions). They both put away 2 with the fixins and a large bag of chips disappeared!!

What does "drowning shrimp" mean? Pardon my ignorance....just curious....

Last good dog we had was at Rutt's and actually we had a terrible batch of Thumann's Dog's the other night - first time ever. The casings seemed to be really tough - it was very strange. Hopefully just a fluke thing...

I once got a bad batch of Thumann's. There is a certain supermarket near me where they keep Thumann's and a few other brands separate. I noticed that these dogs are barely colder than room temperature. I think that might have been the reason. Check the date, the temperature, and look to see if the juice is orange/red or milky white. Don't buy it if the juice is milky white.

It used to mean fishing, using shrimp as bait.

Caution... Avoid using shrimp.. You may catch an UncleVic thats floating around the gulf this up and comming winter season... (Yes, I know it would hurt... But...)...

Is there a recipe for unclevics? Depending on the time of year shrimp are so numerous in the river (St.Johns) and estuaries that a single throw of the cast net will fill a 5gal bucket.

My version is to take 2 or 3 LARGE Vidalia onions, peel then cut in half and cut in thin slices. I saute them in a little olive oil with some fresh garlic. When they are done I add 1 small can of tomato paste and enough water to make a medium thickness sauce. Add kosher salt, plenty of fresh black pepper, and a pinch of crushed red pepper. Let this cook until thick and it's ready to serve.
