Bests Kosher dogs vs. Nathans

Yep, Sams finally did it to me too, they are no longer gonna carry my Bests Kosher. They will have Nathans beef 1/4 lb. by the case that will be even cheaper, and have better name recognition, but they are not Kosher. The Bests Kosher hold up great all day long in a little water, and seem to be a little firmer. I had one of the Nathans and it was good, though I could see how they might get mushy. But then again, it could have been the method of cooking by the high school kid behind the counter. What can anyone tell me about the differences?

Here in NYC, you only see Nathan's franks grilled. You find Sabrett's in water. I have only seen the 1/4 lb Nathan's Dinner franks in supermarkets. Since they are skinless, it is a non-starter for me. A few ideas:

I tried the 1/4 lb Nathans and found it disgusting, but I have to be honest enough to admit that everyone does not share my pallet, so I'll probably start selling both the Bests Kosher AND the Nathans 1/4 lb, but I'm going to charge the same for the Nathans as I used to charge for the Bests and jump them up 50 cents.

The best dogs in my memory were the ones served during 'Hot Dog Day' at my grade school. This was an outside affair in spring serving Usinger's frankfurters and Geiser's Potato Chips.

I tried a pack of Nathan's franks a couple of years ago and was truly disappointed.

No comparison to Best's, which is an aptly named product!

I always prefer Bests.

Go to Costco and get Hebrew National 1/4 pounders, I can't tell them apart from Bests Kosher.

Just brand with Vienna Beef and you'll have them all beat.

i use vienna beef and have the best results from them.

I can tell the diffrence between the Bests and Hebrews, Heb Natls. are fatter and shorter, and more expensive, even at Costco.

Ok BJ's wholesale has done it as well they are not carrying Bests anymore either!! arghh Does anyone know why ??

I prefer hebrews grilled. Nice taste. Juicy. I was sorry i had to stop selling them. I just could'nt eat them everyday. But that is my favorite kosher dawg.

I found Bests Kosher dogs at DOT Foods. And got my local company to order them through DOT for me. The first shipment comes in tomorrow.In the mean time I had gone back to Nathans longer than the bun dogs. But they don't taste as good when prepared on my Panini Grill for some reason.

i guess that was a bit confusing. I am sorry. I had grilled hebrews on the menu, besides sabrett dirty water dawgs.
But i just wasn't selling them so i ended up eating them most days.
Thank G i only cooked a couple a day.
