I received the same thing yesterday and today. I sent a copy of each to "The Mayor" and they are looking into it.

Several members have received this or other messages from the same source. I have forwarded them to Stephen. He will take action shortly. Do not respond to the messages.

The Sundancer opened it. I hope it is just a scam and not a invasive problem.

In an effort to avoid viruses and such, I always review incoming email on my ISP's webmail before I download them to our computer. I saw that email, wrote Mr. Mayor and got a response in about 3 minutes. Thanks, Mr. Mayor!

My ISP identified the source as this "wweelove," so I reported it as spam to my ISP so I won't get anything from them again.

Thanks to the webmasters for looking into this, but we all need to be judicious about how we operate on the Web.

That's a bit annoying...I wonder if it's not one of those Nigerian scams. I just got the email and now have my email service investigating its origins. I'll let everyone know what they turn up.

YES>... i got that SAME email.. DO NOT RESPOND to them.. i just got caught up in something VERY similar to this-- BEWARE... we had something listed on a forum site that my husband belongs to-- this person wanted to buy it .. he was going to send us a cashiers check for $4000 and we were to take out the purchase price plus any extra expenses that we incurred and then western union the rest back to this persons (supposed) doctor for his (supposed) wife's surgery.. well-- we deposited the check in the bank and LUCKILY for us - the bank put a 3 day business hold on it-- the day i went to cash a check from my personal account-- something told me NOT to do it.. luckily i tore up the check and didn't cash it.. that NEXT day i got a call from the loss prevention officer from my bank saying that the cashiers check was a FRAUD.... THANK GOD i did not cash my check or i would have been responsible to replace that 4000 to the bank.......... PLEASE do NOT get caught by these people.. they are very slick.. the loss prevention officer told me that it's most likely someone in NIGERIA -- he preceeded to tell me many stories about that government and how corrupt it is (yes worse than ours..haha-- SERIOUSLY) they've got MAJOR scams all over the place.. if you want more information on these scams that he told me about you are more than welcome to email me for details.. i don't know what can be done about these people but BE CAREFUL and again i say DELETE and BLOCK those emails!!!
(sorry this went on too long-- but i don't want to see anyone else get caught in this...)

I am looking into it. It appears to come from somebody from France (or at least French speaking).

Let it be known that our databases are very secure and they simply used the email function on the web site to contact everyone. Anyone with some free time and programming skills could write a script to automate the process.

Chances are you weren't contacted if you had the "Allow Forum Members to Send you E-Mail" not selected.

    Je suis innocent.

Besides, as I said on the other thread about the e-mail: The way the things are going, I thought, "What the heck." So, I invested my life's fortune -- and doubled it! What's 2 x 0?

The link listed above is for a newspaper located in Ellensworth (sp?), Washington. For balance, you might want to read what the New York Times said on Sunday, October 17 in its editorial endorsing Senator Kerry. Try the Des Moines Register today.

Please forgive me for interrupting your important thread, redtressed. You were thoughtful in posting this important warning.

    Stephen,
Cameroon, maybe? - There are several West African nations that speak French. Also Algeria in North Africa.
I got one of 'em, too, and - since I didn't remember "meeting" such a person, I simply deleted it.
In a short time, however, I will begin accepting contributions for my latest project: making and selling tomato repair kits. I will need roughly $ 250,000 in capital....

how bout NIGERIA... that's where the loss prevention officer from my bank said that most of these type scams originate.. and get this-- it's the government of that country that is starting and keeping them going.. yes people-- a country with a government more corrupt than ours.. BUT seriously-- there's really not a lot that can be done to fight against these people other than NOT BUYING IN TO THEIR BS>....(am i allowed to say that on here??)
    take heed................
and keep eating and writing about it.. that's MUCH more interesting then talking about scam artists..to me anyway...
