Jane never goes anywhere without a huge napkin or bib to tuck into her collar so that food we eat while in the car doesn't wind up all over her shirt and lap. I own virtually no clothes without food stains. We recently were informed of what looks like a very handy product for people who enjoy in-car dining, the carbib: http://www.thecarbib.com/

A neat item - we used to cal it an apron.

I keep an old towel in the trunk of my car for the same purpose. Car Bib -- LOL...

I also keep an old beach towel handy. It looks dorky, but then again I don't go back into the office wearing my lunch.

We never eat in the truck or the car, got the camper and kind of hang out there at meal/snack time. But I do have a funny story about a Massachusetts State Trooper. He was stationed in South Boston and came into Yankee Lobster nearly every day. Maybe it was the little black T-shirts, or maybe it was the food. So one day the trooper comes in and orders Fish'n Chips. Easy enough, fish, french fries, cole slaw, tartar sauce, lemon. He said to me, "I guarantee you I'm gonna be wearing this meal". To which I replied, "What the heck is the matter with you? Just EAT IT" An hour later I got the phone call........"I was doing a high-speed chase on the Mass Pike and I have fish, fries, cole slaw and tartar ALL OVER ME!" Knucklehead.

An "apron" is such an antique 20th century piece of equipment! After all, the hi-tech "carbib", besides being 65/35 poly cotton, "...conveniently folds up and tucks neatly next to your seat."

                Try THAT with your "apron".

                Oh, wait...

(If you're looking for a nice American made, 100% cotton denim (or duck, for those REALLY messy meals) apron (a pair of scissors will turn it into the unique "carbib" shape), try

Don't know what happened with that reply- my response wasn't included, nor was any of the "editing" I did with the original quote (I don't know if most people would want to view that photo twice )...but...

The Roundhouse link was for their aprons (scissors mentioned only to replicate the angled edge of the Carbib, if so desired), not for bib overalls. (Roundhouse makes them, too, of course, one of the last US manufacturer- along with Pointer). And their aprons are only $6.39- 10 bucks less than a "Carbib" and they're all cotton denim- which with absorb a spill rather than poly/cotton which will repel spills, which will then roll onto your car seat and/or pants -which as noted, can be made into shorts once stained, because NO detergent or other laundry product gets out stains quite as well as scissors!

My bib is my shirt.. And it does a fine job of catching food! (And I never leave home without it).

One of those items (like a seatbelt) the more you wear it the more you can't figure out how you lived without it! Tell me your french fries wouldn't be better off in the center pocket as apposed to between the seat and the console. Hell, I used to have a towel next to my seat also, didn't quite do the complete protection job the carbib does. Try it - you might like it!

JessKidden - If the roundhouse steakhouse wanted their aprons used in the car they'd have called them carbibs. It's not very becoming knocking good ideas. I just purchased one and I drove around this week thinking why didn't I think of this! Thanks carbib.

That's the second time someone mis-represented the website I linked to -altho', the first post, complete with a photo of two guys in cut-off shorts is gone, for some reason- - which makes my second post somewhat confusing. But, needless to say, it wasn't "Roundhouse Steakhouse"- whatever that is.

AH! But I'm not "B. Coming" (whoever that is), I'm "Jess Kidden".
And there's nothing more American than competition OR consumers sharing info on what some might feel is a better value.

Hey, that's great! Pretty fast shipping, too or did you pick it up in person? Since I see by your profile that you're in Ambler, PA. which is also.... ... the home of the Carbib.

I'm sure that's just coincidence, since posting an ad by pretending to be a consumer is not, well, "very becoming".

                            Hello All,
I do not wish to offend anyone, especially, the Sterns, but this is one of the most stupid threads I've seen.
I sense kickbacks or something. Shouldn't this be in the Fast Food Laundry section

A person really shouldn't eat in their car, at least the driver anyways.

Of course, for those who are in the back seat, need one of these.

Or just for those fries on the fly!

Of course, this is very handy!

I saw a post from the manufacturer (or someone else with a financial interest) ask how they could get this item listed in the "merchandise" section of the web site a few weeks ago. I don't see it listed there, so I suspect that Michael just liked their product. The "I just bought one" person sounds a lot more like a shill, which is often a negative with me, even if the product is good.

However, if Jane and Michael were to receive some sort of compensation for those that ended up getting sold from information on this web site, I don't think that would be unreasonable. There is a wealth of information here - which they provide for free - and, in turn, need to make a little $$ to pay the bills.
