I had dinner today at the famous BBQ in Decatur, Al.
This is one competition BBQer who definitely has not forgotten to take care of business at home. The brisket was slightly on the dry side, but he was on his game with the ribs. I thought they were better than the ribs I had at Dreamland last month.

Poverty Pete - I agree with you about the ribs being better than Dreamland. We have a Dreamland here in Huntsville, AL, but I'm not a big fan. I have eaten at the one in Tuscaloosa and it was good (could it have been the atmosphere?).

If you are even again in or around Decatur, get on I-565 going East and look for the Greenbrier exit. There are two Greenbrier restaurants; one you can see off the interstate and the other is about 2 miles from there. Both are good but I like the one further away. The barbeque there is great and they have the best hushpuppies you have even eaten (try them dipped in the white sauce). I am certain you won't be disappointed.

We enjoyed a BBQ Lunch on our way home from a visit to Ft Benning GA awhile back. I am not a fan of the white sauce, but their other BBQ sauces were just right for this meat.

The Combo plate and the sliced Brisket were very good.

At a neighboring table the gentleman ordered the BBQ stuffed Potato... What a Plateful!!

Al, yes, isn't the stuffed potato something? I've never eaten one, but my friends have and they say they are fantastic. My fav. at Gibsons is the chicken served w/white sauce. I know that not everyone is a white sauce fan (not to be confused with White Sox) but I absolutely love it. I also put it on my barbeque.

Is Greenbriar near County Line rd.? That's my usual destination when I get down there. I think I'll have to try the baker next time I'm at Gibson's...probably the smoked turkey variation.

Yes, Greenbrier is not to far from County Line Road, just look for the Greenbrier exit off I-565.
