There was a place in Lubbock that stopped doing a similar promotion after a while in the late '80s, in large part because my brother and I used to go over there and enjoy free burgers every couple of weeks.

Of course, this was when I could also eat half a dozen Big Macs in a sitting, a feat that I can't even imagine these days.

Oh, good grief. Even I could eat that.... my 8 year old son could eat that. But he wouldn't touch the cole slaw, so if that's part of the rules, I'd have to pay for his meal. : )

    Look at THESE buns.....

I gotta' agree. A 11/2 lb burger would be be no problem to polish off
if I knew it was free. Why do hamburgers inspire such goofiness?
http://www.seabrooktavern.com these guys offer the pictured burger free if you can eat it in 45 minutes....and they haveBierocks too. Go Jayhawks. It's heading towards March Madness.

1.5 pounds? Please, that's way too easy. I can see a lot of people doing that. If they were smart, maybe they would establish a time limit. That would make things more interesting.

No big deal polishing off a burger that size. Me and my septagenarian in-laws each devoured one like that at Bob's Bar in Martinsburg, Nebraska (pop. 90) recently.....with fries, onion rings and beer. Of course we didn't eat for the next two days......but one can only imagine what a bunch of 18-year-olds would do!

garykg6, we left from Westfield, Iowa (Sioux City area) and drove to Ponca then down Rt. 9 to Martinsburg. http://www.askada.com/us/cities/martinsburg.htm
You can't miss the place, there's nothing else in Martinsburg but fields and cattle. DO NOT get an order of FF per person, one is enough for 4 people and they are GOOOOD but save yourself for the burger, best I ever ate.......Roadfood at it's finest!!! Oh, I forgot to mention........go to the ATM machine before heading to Bob's Bar......them's is some pricey 1.5 lb. burgers......$2.75 for a cheeseburger with all the fixins and 75 cents for a beer!

Website stipulates that you have to finish the fries and slaw as well to get it free. I'm betting that there is a lot of fries & slaw...

I'll have to find this place, and take some photos for the board.

Fat Cats. They are a local specialty in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Basically, a huge sandwich consisting of multiple hamburger patties, ketchup, lettuce, mayo and french fries piled inside one sub. Considered by Rutgers students to be a good antidote for a hard night of drinking. Sold in "grease trucks": vendors who sell their caloric wares from the inside of a truck. Fat Cats are so popular that the grease trucks sell many different varieties (i.e. chicken, vegetarian.) But these varieties still follow the same format: lots of meat, condiments and fries piled onto a sub.
Where to find? Go to Rutgers-the New Brunswick campus. You'll see a bunch of grease trucks congregated in one corner of a parking lot just down the street from the Student Center.

Bet that 112# Japanese guy who cleans up on the hot dog eating contests could eat about 15 of those burgers (probably in 10 minutes)
