Big News In The World Of Central Texas Barbecue: John Mueller Set To Re Open After 5 Years

It's hard to believe that John Mueller, of the legendary Mueller family of Taylor Texas has been shuttered for five years.
 
That's all about to change.
 
New broke today on the web that Mr. Mueller is set for a triumphant return to Austin's intensely competitive barbecue scene.
 
Aaron Franklin, the wunderkind of Franklin Barbecue, learned the ropes at John Mueller's so it will be very interesting to see the old master back on the scene that Franklin currently rules.
 
Lot's of coverage broke today. The local news affiliates all broke into regularly scheduled programming to report on the hubbub.
 
It reminded me of when Vince Young won the national title for the Longhorns a few years back.

Let's hope the BBQ and "attitude" improve the second time around. After all, that's why they didn't make it in Austin the first time around.

For those with little time: Today was supposed to be the day John Mueller re-opened but things have changed.
 
His mom had some serious health problems so that set the opening back.
 
Then he decided to shift the new business to a far more high profile part of Austin.
 
That's the short story.
