Biker Jim in Details Magazine

Okay, so I really suck at pasting url's into a post. But if anyone wants to check it out the food critic in Details Mag did a piece on street vendors across the country and I was one of the featured vendors. A nice article and I am proud to be listed with some of these other guys. Hopefully I didn't screw it up and you can read the article here: http://men.style.com/details/features/full?id=content_7369 Someday I will learn how to copy and past a url.

biker jim - Great to hear from you and congratulations on the post. nice feature...and 1st on the list. It also gave me a chance to visit your website again. Glad to hear you're feeling better also! The summer has seen a few Roadfooders pass through Chicago with perhaps a few more on Labor Day...but no body has been the Celebrity Sausage at Hot Dougs since you! Give our best to your buddies! Congratulations again!

Biker Jim, Congratulations on the coverage, that is great. I hope the convention makes you a ton of cash. "My DNC "Wag the Dog" special is going to be. It is a lamb sausage with a spicy raita dressing and an olive tapanade. The dog is grilled served on a hot roll and accompanied with a coke and a Hostess Ding Dong. It is called the Obama "Lamb"a Ding Dong. Now that's funny, I love it. Jack

Thanks guys, I had posted twice my gratitude but I also mentioned some protesters that are set up near my cart. Due to their controversial nature my posts were removed...didn't know I couldn't talk about what was going on around me. But apparently Dr of BBQ got a look. Yeah the "Obama Lamba Ding Dong" has been going over pretty well. Today was a good and long day. We also set the cart up for a DNC late night lounge tonight. A friend will be running it...you might know him as Eddy B. Hope he does well and has a good time. Also doesn't screw it up. I pretty much have faith in that guy though he is pretty good. Speaking of Biden he ate at the BBQ joint a block away from me today. The owner is this pretty cute chick who was a bit flabbergasted that he came...I'll let you know if I catch any cool celebs. Thanks again for the congrats, it is very cool to see stuff in a national magazine.

you guys look pretty at home on that bike there Mark. Hint, hint. You might have gotten that gotta go fast blood out of your system and learned how to make nice entrances and exits on something like that by now. I'll be thinking about you at Harley ville this weekend. I met Will Durst today. He's been one of my favorite political comics since I was in my 20's. It was pretty cool I started a joke I heard him say like 20 years ago and he finished it for me. I was a bit star struck. Thanks again, I am probably one of the luckiest hot dog guys around!

Jim, you're the master of mobile food service gourmet game sausages. Not only did you have the opportunity to meet and chat with Doug Sohn, owner of the famous Hot Doug's in Chicago, he named a specialty sausage after you. Now that's truly hot doggin' at it's best. Mark

I just enjoyed a banner week. It was really cool to have an extra 50,000 people wandering around town this week. Coming to work yesterday sort of reminded me of like when you meet someone special, and you're both really hot for each other, and you spend all you're time together, and then she has to go visit her mother for a weekend and you wake up that first day without her, and your world seems extra quiet. That's kind of what it was like going back to a regular day on the street. But I'm not minding not inhaling hot dog smoke, and asking people if they want onions on that, at least for a couple of days. I think I shall get on my scooter and not jump off for a while. Have a great Labor Day.

Was there any difference in the mix of sausages that you sold for the extended special event?

I sold my usual menu. Except on Wednesdays when I swap it up and bring out a different variety. I did do a DNC "Wag the Dog" special. This consisted of a 1/4 lb lamb sausage topped with a spicy yogurt dressing and an olive tapanade. It was served with a drink, chips and a Hostess Ding Dong. We called it the "Obama Lamba Ding Dong" That sold out every day...fun and fun.

No didn't serve any baloney, perhaps a bunch of reporters full of baloney. I was wondering what to do for a McCain special. I was thinking about an 8-1 Bar S dog. Served plain on a cold roll for $64.
