Biloxi/Mobile

Going to be in New Orleans Thanksgiving weekend and may take side trip to Biloxi to see mad potter museum. Any suggestions between New Orleans and Mobile?

A few years ago we spent several weeks in southern MS and AL, and went to a lot of local places. We loved Bozo's on Ingalls Ave in Pascagula. It's a seafood market/grocery store/takeout restaurant. They have the best shrimp and oyster poboys!! I also heard that you can get you deer dressed there if you like. Just south of the interstate at Exit 61 in Gautier MS is the Sea Market Inc. They also have great poboys, as well as plenty of fresh seafood. It's great for takeout. Our favorite place for a nice sitdown meal was Jocelyns in Ocean Springs. It's listed as a Cajun/Creole restaurant, and their specialty is shrimp. Everything there was delicious. Ocean Springs is a beautiful small town east of Biloxi with lots of southern charm and several good/great restaurants. Have fun!!

When I was in Alabama this spring, I originally set out to visit Wintzell's Oyster Bar in Mobile, based upon the review here.

I found out upon my arrival in Fairhope that Wintzells had just opened a second location in Fairhope (which wound up being my hangout when I was there) so I never made it to Mobile and the original location, but I would strongly recommend trying them---they were great. Favorites were the oysters on the half shell (of course) and the Fried Green Tomatoes topped with Crawfish Etoufee.

Crawfish may not be in season yet but we'll see.

I had a wonderful meal at a little place called "Beaudean's", a seafood restaurant, at the intersection of River Rd and AL Hwy 193, on the road from Mobile to Dauphin Island. Great find!
