quote:Originally posted by MissKitty Was just wondering ( not that Im likely ever to get to taste them anyway, but Im curious ) if anyone has sampled the products listed in the initial posting and has opinions on em ? I like the idea of a regional baseball team park serving real regional food as well as the generic national stuff. It would be like London football teams here serving jellied eels :) If you're still out there, MissKitty, I've never tried the syrup mentioned but I have tried Mary B's biscuits. They are very good. They are the freezer section of my supermarket and military commissary. They can be put in a preheated oven (I use my toaster oven) and bake up in about 15 minutes. To my taste, they are almost as good as homemade.

Years ago while visiting a friends sister in Galena, Kansas she served buttered biscuts with hot chocolat pudding, my kids always liked it even though I used the pop-up rolls

Lisa Faye, Alas, I have never made chocolate gravy myself. It was one of those foods that live on in memories. However, I did find a link to a recipe for chocolate gravy (I hope it works): http://www.carolina-country-cooking.com/recipes/chocolate-gravy.html And with that in hand, I too might attempt it. If that recipe doesn't meet expectations, I know that there is a recipe for it in "A Gracious Plenty" by John T. Edge. An amazing cookbook that brings my Southern upbringing foods to life again! If you make it, I would love to hear how it turns out. Best, David

As a mid-morning snack,my grannie used to placate us grandkids by taking a leftover breakfast biscuit(lard of course),poking a hole in the side of the biscuit and filing that hole with cane syrup.Little tidbits of love make the most lasting memmories.

Mamaw Smith use to make us breakfast with her homemade Tennessee biscuits and syrup that she made with brown sugar, real butter and water. It was dark brown and good. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

Gotta try Mary B's. Up here in CT, I don't know if I've ever seen them. Will watch. I usually buy the Pillsbury frozen biscuits in a bag...I think they're terrific! Will compare with Mary B's. I don't know of a better breakfast than hot biscuits, eggs, sausage and fresh coffee! OK, throw in some hash browns and syrup for the biscuits.
