Boar's Nest Columbia SC closed!

I've heard both Boar's Nest BBQ locations have closed. They had good food and were only a couple of years old. Anyone out there have the scoop?

Sorry, I'm from the Columbia area but have never eaten at Boar's nest and haven't really heard much about it.

I got nothin, huntryce, never visited there. Did you like it? I was surprised to see my Two Notch Sticky Fingers had also closed as well. But to lighten things up, the Hudson's folks have bought or leased the old Bo-B-Q place on Knox Abbott Dr. (near the Wendy's and Zaxby's). That building's been a million things; I think it might have begun life as a Mrs. Winner's chicken, but it's going to be the Hudson's Smokehouse Express now. Hope they get it right moving it across town.

Thanks y'all. Yes, Boar's Nest served good smoked pork with a variety of sauces. I'm really shocked that they closed; they had a good catering business too.

Didn't know about the Sticky Fingers closing either. That Two Notch location can't seem to keep anything very long.

Nancy - YES! I am tickled about the Hudson's addition out on Knox Abbott. From their website it appears they are branching out, not moving away from the original location. Sign says opening in July. Yay!

Huntryce I'm wrong. I did eat at the Boar's Nest out on the Ballentine highway sometime last summer. It was OK. As I recall the slaw was pretty good and there was an impressive sauce selection. Honestly I don't see how a BBQ catering business stays in business around here if they're competing with Shealy's because the food cost is so high.

The Boar's Nest really went down hill after J.D. Hogg passed away.

It actually took until watching the 'World Series of Pop Culture' this weekend for me to even get that, robear.
