Bob

I have another sad sack story.sorry to share but you guys are, and have been, great supporters. Bob has been ill for 2 years. Cant seem to get a hold on his health. As we have no insurance, its been rough. Well, folks, he is being tested for cancer, among other things. He has lost 25 lbs for no reason, and other symptoms....please share prayers for him. We are glad to know what we may be facing, but I am so worn out.......plus his job-which he just got a couple of months ago, laid him off. It wasnt for his performance.we are sure its because he has been ill....thanks, again, for your friendship.

Ann, Yesterday I did the all-day checkup-followup on my bladder cancer surgery from last year. The final activity of the day, after catscans and tons of 'needles and dye-jobs' and other lab work, was to watch in living color the camera searching parts of my insides and coming up with the 'Looks like we got it all " from the Chief Doc in charge.

Keep the faith, Lots is being done in the treatment--IF the diagnosis is indeed a cancer of some type. We will remember Bob in our prayers and will talk to you soon.  Take care of yourself, so you can help your husband. God Bless You, my friend.

My prayer and sympathies are with you.   ... If Bob isn't on Soc. Security & Medicaid, get the paper work started.  He qualifies and is disabled.

The Doctor & Hospital should be able to help you with the emergency SS application. The Hospital helped my wife to get medicare/medicaid 2 1/2 years before she turned 62.

I'm very sorry to hear about this and hope for good news.  The fact that I just read in another forum that you donated $100 to the Red Cross tells me a lot about what kind of people you are and no matter the outcome of the tests you will be rewarded for that.

We did get some answers yesterday. He DOES NOT have TB, thank God. He does, however have chronic bronchitis and emphysema. He also has a condition called hypocalcemia, which means he has very high levels of calcium, which can be from many things(Its not from calcium intake)He will be tested further for bone cancer, etc....but first we have to apply at the hospital for "charity care" before said tests will be done, as they are quite expensive. At least we know why his energy level  is low and where the dizziness comes from-the lung situation.

    Re:Bob 2012/11/13 10:44:35 (permalink)
Ann, I'm not that willing to share personal information in such a public place, but I've been reading your things for a long time now, and I have a sister in Meno Falls (Schlei Road), so there is a sort of kinship.  I love that same corner butcher shop/deli that you do, and will be there at Thanksgiving.

So I can tell you a couple things, although it could be better news, financially.

I too have COPD, and my manifestations of it are the same as Bob, although I would put the emphysema first over the chronic bronchitis, as the emphysema is constant and the bronchitis will occur in periodic attacks.

I have actually only had bronchitis once in my life, but I did have pneumonia twice in 2011, in January and again in July.  I thought I was a goner, especially after the second time in six months.  The future did not look good.

You've seen the ads in magazines for Advair and Spiriva.  I am on both.  Been on Advair for about three years, and the Spiriva was added after the July pneumonia.

They are, for me, miracles!  I am breathing much better now.  Unless I exert myself too much, I can forget I have a problem (Yes, get reminded quick enough).

The two drugs do different things in the lungs.  The Advair was good, but the Spiriva really made the difference. The doctor says some people have wonderful results with it, others less so.  He is glad I'm doing better, but says if I was off for a few days, I would know it for sure.

The problem is they are both very expensive!  Neither are anywhere near generic yet, and won't be for a while.  I am sorry to tell you they are costing me an arm and a leg.  But without them I would not be walking around.

I know times are tough over there.  My sister is losing her job at Dana Corp, after some twenty-six years there. They are closing the plant and over two hundred jobs are moving to Kentucky (Danville).  She will be done by Thanksgiving, gets a five month severance package, then she will be an older lady without insurance, and I am really worried for her.

Hey, for you and/or Bob -- Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac announced yesterday they are adding 170 jobs.  Their plant is right on Hwy 41, just a few miles north of the Quad plant.

(I recognized your description of Quad, I've been there a jillion times on business with them.)

Hope I have helped, even though not the greatest news.  It's pretty scary at first.  But the hospital has given you good information; there is reason for hope!

Thanks, easy......what a wonderful, post.Things make sense now-not for the bronchitis, but emphysema( probably wrong spelling...) He is absoluetly exhausted all the time, he is dizzy-and the worst part is he is very intelligent. He is forgetting words....he is forgetting memories They say its lack of oxygen, and I believe it.I saw my Mom go thru it.Bob can barely work anymore........but thanks for the referral to Fond Du Lac.Bobs brother owns a company that goes to China once a year They make tons of money and I get a Coach purse!Just kidding about the purse..I want Bob healthy......
