Bob

We have a new Roadfood member. Bob is now over the road driving truck, and he hates fast food. He reports in on little restaurants that he has eaten at. I told him you all would love it! I will report in! Maybe a new topic...lol!

That's great news, and especially because his reports will have the best possible editor, who knows what real roadfood is.

When he gets his destinations, maybe people can make suggestions too.

The trouble's gonna be parking that big boy near some little greasy spoon downtown somewhere.  (Could take along a bicycle.)

Bob's new job is great news for more reasons than RF entries ! We congratulate him on his restoration of health and his new job, too.  Hope to see both of you later this winter.

I don't really know Bob, but, if he is married to Ann, he must be nice. This is like sending out a scout for the wagon train, only Bob will report back with food finds, not, danger in the hills...............I wish you the best Ann, great idea................thxs...............Bill

I've never met Bob but he has to be nicer than Annie.  She is just downright mean.  She would not share even one oyster at Wintzell's.  Gobbled all of them down.  Mean, I'm tellin you, mean.

If you are talking about Bay St Louis, then Bob will be pretty close to Kiln MS, home of Brett Farve, which used to be, I say used to be, a pilgrimage destination that for any true Wisconsinite.

Being just that, and my wife a HUGE Packer fan, we had to run over there after a few days in New Orleans.  It was April 2006, and the entire Gulf Coast was still a beehive of activity after the destruction from Katrina.

We were surprised at how tiny Kiln was, but did find a drive-in to try, and it was very good.  There is no indoor seating, so we ordered our burgers and sat at a picnic table under a shade tree.

It was a hot day, and after a bit a quite large (rotund) man came out, sweating, and sat down at a nearby table.  He looked like he had to be the cook, so we started talking, and he was indeed the cook and owner.

We told him how good his burgers were (true), and I (from the North) said what a nice surprise it was to find both raw and fried onions on the burger.  He looked confused for a second, then said, "Oh, you mean sautéed!"

And, of course, "fried" up here and down there mean very different things.

But Bob will have a nice place to park his rig, and it's close to the main highway.

And now I claim the honor of being the first person to offer a suggestion.

I just spent a couple minutes studying their menu on the Facebook page, and the difference between fried and sautéed starts to pale as I look at their "Philly" sandwiches -- they have not only ribeye Phillies, but roast beef, chicken and shrimp!  And you can get green peppers and mushrooms too.

Oh well, they're a long way from Philadelphia, maybe they have artistic license.  I see some of those ersatz Phillies around here too -- wonder if the concept is not slipping into the general food/menu language.

Annie, do you mean ST Louis, MISSOURI ? or does the MS really mean Mississippi ?
Can he get around city streets to a restaurant, or is he limited (like Poverty Pete is at times) to a place with adequate truck parking??
