Bologna and Brie (with mayo..) Sat, 02/10/07 11:53 AM (permalink)
My 13 year old daughter invented this sandwich, which she orders at the local deli. It is her specialty. She orders it on a hard roll, sometimes with lettuce and tomato. I thought she was crazy, certainly non-epicure - till I tasted it, and it is delicious!

What kind of sandwiches have you invented that are a surprisingly delicious too?

Well, I like the various parts so why not put them together! I'd skip the lettuce and tomato though.

Peanut butter and onion. The onion keeps the peanut butter from sticking to the roof of your mouth and the peanut butter cuts the onion smell from your breath. Oh, and it's really good.

Two specials that I created were,

The Elvis Burger: A burning hunk of love on a bun with a half pound of beef, All American cheese, greasy grilled onion and crispy bacon. Served with a side of thighs, whoops fries....

The Master Blaster: Grilled chicken breast with hot link, cheese and spicy BBQ sauce.

No inventive creations to add, but your daughters combo reminded me of this 1980's record...

They are from Canada and were quite a funny band. Cognac & Bologna is one of the greatest album titles of all time!

Okay, bologna and brie with mayo has got to be against some law, moral or civil, somewhere. But it does sound pretty tasty. Bonus points for the crusty roll.

I'd almost forgotten about this, but some years ago when I would eat at a make-your-own sandwich bar my standard was chicken salad and cappicola on an onion roll, with lettuce, sprouts, and the slightest touch of hot peppers. Sometimes I'd add a slice of muenster or provolone.

When I was much younger- translation- in grade school- my most favorite sandwich was peanut butter, mayo and lettuce on white bread ( my mother always spread the bread first with butter and then put the sandwich makings on). I think I ate those until 6th grade- then it was on to bologna and cheese.
My son, when he was little , loved PB&J with cheese in between the PB & J- strange, purple sandwich with cheese- I used to make it for him and then send him out to eat on the porch- looked awful- but he loved it- still does today- and he's grown now.

No big invention, just a really good sandwich. Mash one ripe avacado on a couple of slices of premium bread, I like whole wheat or a rye bread. Season with yellow mustard and a red Louisiana Cayenne pepper sauce, preferably Crystal, or Frank's (yeah, I know Franks isn't made in LA anymore). Add or delete fixin's to your liking. Onions, tomatoes, lettuce, raw garlic, etc. Man, just finished one with a humongous Empire avacado on Caroway seeded rye bread. Delicious, good for you, too.

Here's one my friend Drew made up in High School, I thought he was crazy at the time...........until I tasted the sandwich!

Whole wheat bread, shaved Lebanon Bologne, and peanut butter. I sometimes through a handful of BBQ potato chip on for some crunch.

Mland, I like pb&j with a slice or 2 of american cheese in the middle.
Any jelly works but I prefer strawberry or blackberry... grilled its even better!

I've had bologna and brie, but I used brie as the condiment rather than mayo and added some tomato.
