Andrew Knowlton, an editor at Bon Appetit, came to Austin and sampled Franklin Barbecue, the wildly popular East Austin barbecue house a couple months ago.
The new issue of the magazine has declared that Franklin is the best in the United States.
Local and national media picked up the story with results ranging from the prospect of Knowlton being drygulched out near Abilene http://www.scrumptiousche...On-Texas-Barbecue#more
To Joe Nick Patoski writing about it in the New York Times http://www.nytimes.com/20.../19ttpatoski.html?_r=1
Pat Sharpe over at Texas Monthly has a piece on the hubub too http://www.texasmonthly.c..logs/eatmywords/?p=3126
It's going to be real interesting out in these parts when John Mueller, grandson of Louie Mueller gets his new operation running this summer.
This is where Aaron Franklin paid his dues before opening his own place.
We've always been real serious about our brisket out in these parts but I've never seen this level of excitement about barbecue.
