Boom box concession Tue, 03/4/08 3:11 PM (permalink)
I am finishing up a concession trailer that is built to look like a giant boom box / Radio. The trailer is capable of playing music and doing advertising for local businesses. I have two questions for right now. Many to follow. We require more capital to finish. I am working on a business plan for the prospective lenders. Has anyone made up a business plan for a concession before. I need some help on this. I guess I have three questions. Would fair's and festivals frown on G rated music. The third question. I'm having trouble finding market information. Cost of doing business, trends, profit, margins Ect. Can any one help with this.

But they're two entirely differant types of business and i'm not sure mine will do you any good.

2 Finding marketing information that is worth useing without paying for it is going to be difficult. Unless someone else is doing what your going to do, any imput is garbage in garbage out, including my thoughts LOL.

We had two radio stations here in town that had boom boxes several years ago but that entire marketing style for radio faded fairly fast and they junked them in the late 90s. It could I guess work in some other venues, but are you sure there is a demand for playing music and doing advertising for businesses? I'm not sure there is but what the hell we have a member that wants to deliver hot dogs to offices so what do I know.

Your profit margin would be figured by deducting your real cost(labor, electricity, travel, etc)from your total hourly or daily rate.

Good Luck sorry I can't be of more help. One thought that might work is getting Pepsi or Coke to sponsor the rest of you venture in exchange for billboard space on the backside. But beware many fairs and events only serve one type of soft drink and if your boom box is the wrong brand your out of luck.

My suggestion is to take that trailer to Bike Shows, they would love it. I would get a list of local events as well, car shows, bike shows, racing events, any of these would be prime, on a more solid basis though if you have manufacturing companies with a few hundred employees you might want to ask permission to bring your trailor to there business during lunch hours. I would get those set in place before asking people to invest in you.

Kagin, sign up for this years Metro Cruise ( http://www.28thstreetmetrocruise.com ). Though I doubt you can run your boom box, try the CowPie Blues Festival: http://www.cowpiebluesfestival.com/ I'm thinking about working this one, time and equipment permitting (and be ready for a LONG, LONG day!)...
