Borgata in A/C: Ellen? Wed, 01/19/11 12:25 PM (permalink)
We're planning an overnight here, total party of 6. I've looked over the internet reviews, but there is such a wide range of dining "intent", from the buffet through sandwich shops through ethnic to high end steak houses. Has anyone eatenat Borgata, and can you comment please? and, Ellen? Are you still around? The last two times we were at Borgata we looked for you in the poker rooms, but, no joy.

I'd love to dine at Old Homestead steakhouse, but I think I'd have to win big first. It looks like the bill for 6 would be well north of $500.

    hi Mosca,
here I am !!!!  (thanks to Miami Don, alerting me thru a Facebook message that you were looking for me...)
(I don't come on here too much anymore, as I have'nt been able to get into the new home page ) (yet?!?)

Yes , the BORGATA definitely has a wide range of dining, so it really depends what you and the other 5 are in the mood for ...

The buffet is pretty decent, many really love it ...
That would probably be my 1st choice for you, a nice relaxing meal,
    without spending a fortune....
It's NOT dirt cheap, either , though, as it will run you about $30 apiece, with tax...

(I don't do seafood, so I really can't comment on those buffet dishes)
    Their prime rib is "ok"...
I would advise you to "inspect" buffet, take a look around...

I had Tony Luke's cheesesteak in the food court just ONCE,...
it was way too DRIED out for me !
and their were onions, but no roasted sweet peppers...(wtf ??)
I've enjoyed Tony Lukes much more at their original Philly location ..
(their hot roast beef is to die for there...
unfortunately, it is not on the menu in the Borgata AC food court Tony Lukes..
I also had a chicken parm sandwich from Tony Luke's , AConce, just once, lol !!
Did not like that much , either !!  (tasted processed and very bland)

There is a Fatburger in the Food Court, good in a pinch, for a late night snack...
    or perhaps a lunch ?

I've been to Old Homestead about 3 times, with poker player buddies , some who had "comps" for it ...
Their steaks did not have enough of a charbroiled taste , (for my own personal tastes !)  I liked the prime rib a lot, though...

I've been to Bobby Flays once and enjoyed  their steaks even more than Old Homestead...
the southwestern ribeye is real good , and many rave about the
steak with the Provolone cheese sauce on it ...(some sort of Philly style
    NY steak)...
Steaks are about $45 apiece  there, a la carte...
would'nt be too bad, as long as you don't order bottles of wine, etc , lol !!!

Let me know when you are coming to Borgata !!
I am off Mon and Tuesdays now, and usually start 11 am ....
(and heading to VEGAS the 1st week of March, so you will NOT see me there
then, lol !!!)  (I need to warm up...too cold here)

Have fun, hope I get to see you, and don't forget to report back here!!!

We sure miss you here, Ellen!  It takes a lot of patience and Transcendental Meditation, but I tolerate the new page.

        Ellen! Thanks!

I'll give you the deets by PM.

Talking to my sister (who lives in Ocean City), she says that the expensive places would be wasted on her, and that the buffet would be fine. Last time we were there we went to the buffet, and it is expensive but also the only buffet in A/C that is worth it, IMO; almost as good as the buffet at Bellagio in LV.

          lol , MellowRoast...
and thanks for the kind words !!

And thanks to you, MOSCA, for the nice PM note ...
Hope I'll get to say hi to you when you come to my casino workplace...!
We've got some real comfortable limit poker tables, like the $2-4 game...

thanks, GREG !!!  And when the weather gets warmer, who knows, maybe I'll take a trip up there to Massachusetts again !   Spirit Airlines often has real good deals from ACY to Boston .....

hey, MOSCA, I just went to the BALLY'S Wild Wild West Casino Buffet...(called the Virginia City buffet)
I give it a MOST improved award, as there is now prime rib, and it's all you can eat ...
(not just "one ticket" for a steak or prime rib piece, like it was B4...)
and my BF & I both agreed the prime rib was exceptionally good !!! Nice & crusty, and soft as butter!
              ....it cut real EZ ....

we had a 2 for 1 coupon from the Entertainment Book, btw

Hey, half the time I come home with more than I left, so, y'know, oh well n' 'at. I was hoping to visit with my sister who lives in Ocean City, as well. Bumma, on that one. I hope she's free next week.
