I really like Tony Bourdain and I'm glad he likes Alton Brown. They're two of my favs.

    Thanks for posting that.

His commentary was enlightening. Some of the follow up comments were funny as well, the poor lady who sprayed cappucino over her monitor, I know how she felt, diet pepsi flew from my nose too.

      That was fun to read!

I too love Alton and Mario Batali. I use to be a huge fan of Mario Eats Italy.

I'm ashamed to admit I read a blog with an I Loathe Sandra Lee monthly recipe redo lol

I enjoyed Tony's book and his in your face attitude is refreshing but I happen to like watching Sandra... maybe not her cooking but I sure like watching HER...

That was a great article. Typical funny Bourdain, and I actually agreed with most of his analysis.

The only thing is, there are a couple of things I like about Sandra Lee. Suffice it to say that my decision to watch her show is based on her attire.

I remember a wonderful show she filmed at the beach. I have no idea what she cooked...

There is a good recipe for General Tao's chicken posted there also. I tryed it last evening and it turned out just great. Love those recipes with step by step pictures.
I've been reading Ruhlman since last fall, he has some very funny observations. Read the posts about Rocky Mountain oysters. Chow Jim

Brilliant!!! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. What I thopught was especially good and on target was the skewering of the network and how they are slanting the shows towards a certain demographic, while still giving chefs their due respect (the ones who've made their bones over the years working the line, getting through culinary school, toiling away for years and now getting some celebrity, etc...)

Food Network gives out what the majority of the audience wants, fast food. And if we can have fast food without being too cheeeeep, even better. It seems the gourmet cooks doesn't fit in anymore. They have to get their own show somewhere else.

Anthony Bourdain is a pompous loud mouth, who of course couldn't make it on the Food Network. He got cancelled. When he's not trying to tell us how good snake guts really are to eat, he's got his ever-present cancer stick hanging out of his mouth. I find him uncouth, loud and uninteresting. The thought of him doing a review on the Food Network is sort of like accepting a report from "The National Soda Pop Association" that says milk is bad for you! May he and Alton Brown go off into the oblivion they so richly deserve.

I enjoy Mr. Bourdain, and have enjoyed many of his travels, especially the one to Portland, and the Pacific Northwest.
Macchu Pichu was another one I enjoyed.
I thought the blog was hilarious, and it totally entertained my jumbled little brain.
In fact, last week when he was in Los Angeles and with the Roller Derby girls, he was actually embarrased by his crew when they gave him skates to wear. I like the fact that he smokes, drinks, and is himself when doing a show.
He IS NOT just another pompous a**..
I think he speaks well to the laymen, and would love to see him and Mario Batali suck down a couple bottles of vino and do some cooking together!
Like Bham Babe, I miss Mario tooling around Italy with his sidekick and showing us behind the scenes of that beautiful country.
Even if he ever did blast my fav, Tyler Florence, I would still love Mr. Bourdain....
And.. this tidbit about the last Top Chef, I thought was funny also.

I am also a fan of Bourdain and Alton. Alton is a natural born teacher and Bourdain is entertaining. I enjoy the places he goes.
