With somewhat over 300 restaurants in Branson, there are certainly a lot of choices, with probably less than half of them being chains. One of our personal favorites is The Rails on Safari Road which has an AYCE seafood buffet at a reasonable price. If you like AYCE buffets, Branson is the place, since you can find breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets. Here is a website describing 10 of the buffets: http://www.10bestcityguides.com/list.process/OID_0D9A56E1/MID_433/CID_1/SID_92/BID_61533/ Other non-chain places are restaurants that are in many of the theaters, such as Baldknobber's Country Restaurant, Gilley's Texas Cafe, Showboat Branson Belle, Upstairs at Jim Stafford Theatre, and Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Dinner Show. One thing you need to remember, unless Branson has changed since we were last there they pretty much "roll up the sidewalks" shortly after the end of the last theater show, so there is not a lot available for a midnight snack.

Depending on your travel mode and route, the pizza at The Antler in Gainesville MO is pretty good according to my wife, kids, and in-laws... Brad

Branson has changed so much since I was a kid. I would recommend going "downtown" to the heart of original Branson (back when it was a mere fishing village), and you might run into some old locals. Ask them where to eat. (Also, there used to be two awesome cafes there, but I don't know if they're still open.) If you are planning on going up to Springfield, email me and I'll put you on some great places.

You'll probably be taking Hwy 65 into Branson. Just off 65 about 30 miles north is a Lambert's in the town of Ozark. That's the throwed rolls restaurant that is much discussed on this site. Well worth a stop. Their web site is http://www.throwedrolls.com
