If you happen to be in the heartland, Braums is a great restaurant/ice cream shop to visit. Online Locator - http://www.braums.com/StoreLocator.asp I like their burgers and fries. The burgers are a good size and the ice cream is as good as Baskin Robbins. I wish they had Braums up in the north-east.

They sell an ice cream spade, metal with a wooden handle, for $5. Even if you don't like ice cream (!) those spades are a great kitchen tool at an unbelievably low price. Sure, they say Braum's on them. My only problem is I only bought ice for my cooler and the spades. I see I missed out!

I love Braum's: the food is truthfully fairly mediocre, but it's tasty and cheap, and I like the atmosphere, and the ice cream and malts are, as noted, excellent. Brigham's here in New England is a similar concept, but they're getting very thin on the ground.

Braums has the best skim milk ever. No hormones in it either. Great ice cream too.

IMHO, Braums ice cream beats Blue Bell any time. My mother from Chicago loves Braums -- and she's quite picky about her ice cream!

It has first class treats and good sandwiches. We look forward to passing thru TX & OK knowing that we will get a sweet treat in route.

Yup, had Braum's several times when staying in Arkansas. Loved their malts and shakes and their Dairy products period.

I like the hamburgers at Braums -- standard American burgers, served up piping hot. The freshly-made limeade is terrific, too -- reminds of the "lime rickeys" served at a soda fountain in my hometown when I was growing up. In the dairy store, Braums has great bacon, and I also like the jalapeno sour cream dip. The eggs are fresher than your local supermarket, too. For some reason their potato chips taste better, too. Can you tell I'm a Braum's fanatic? Lucky for me, there's a full-service Braum's a mile from my house!

It is interesting that they are still family owned according to the web site. Dean and Souza (sp?) must call on them weekly.

They are, indeed, owned by a family with strong Oklahoma roots. They have their own herd of cattle outside Oklahoma City. They've got great eggnog . . . and during the Christmas season, they put wonderful peppermint ice cream in the stores. Which reminds me . . .

I've had the good fortune of eating at Braum's myself, particularly in Springfield, Missouri (604 N. Glenstone/Business US 65), in August 2003, and I must say it could give Culver's a run for its money, it's so good!

When I was a child and had to 'visit grandma's' in Salina,KS for a few summers, they had a chain of ice cream parlors called Peter Pan,which had EXCELLENT ice cream....turns out that the family behind that small chain is the family behind Braum's....
