Breakfast Blues

It's 6:30 in the morning and I'm hungry. The problem? I'm in the rural midwest and each restaurant and cafe has the exact same menu with the exact same food. I cannot tell the difference. The sausage gravy is pasty and bland, the buscuits were baked the night before, the skillets are loaded with more onion than potato. Just to be different, I could go to McDonald's or Burger King. I don't know what I want but I know I want something different for breakfast. I want the stuff you guys take pictures of and post. I want something spicy or flavorful. Everything here is bland until you put a whole bunch of tabasco on it. And then it just tastes like tabasco. Ok, can anybody here recommend a decent cookbook about breakfasts that has recipes for those of us who can still taste? I know that somebody, somewhere in the world is looking at their spicy, zesty breakfast and sighing to themselves about how much they would love a bland, boring breakfast for once. Maybe one?

I'm getting the infamous "Page can't be found" message when I click on that link.

It works if you click on "I found a good start."

A good diner b'fast is hard to find around here as well. We have a newish place but the prices are high. 4.25 for 2 pancakes. That's all, 2 pancakes. No eggs or meat included.

Here in Fontana, breakfast choices are not a problem. This past Saturday, I had a hard time making my my up at my local diner.... did I want the pork chile verde omelet, the chilaquiles plate, or the chorizo and eggs with pico de gallo? Chilaquiles won. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chilaquiles

What? No Waffle House? The breakfast link was fun, but there are no places listed in my town... Jackson, MS. I know of several good breakfast spots... where do you suppose they got their lists?
