Best Chicken Fried Steak breakfast in OC. Their coffee is also much better than most places. Lots of breakfasts-----it's definitely a local's place so expect a small wait.

My favorite is the "Sugar Shack" in Huntington Beach. They serve excellent country sausage and an unusual type of breakfast potato called "spuds." Huell Howser went there on one of his shows.

The Shore House has a great menu with tons of variety and the portions are more than generous...I like the stuffed french toast. The Cottage in Laguna is great as well as Plum's in Costa Mesa.

Gourmet Pie & Cafe in Los Alamitos is a great new reasonable and delicious local OC breakfast spot ( 5350 Katella Ave, Los Alamitos, CA 90720). I second the Shorehouse Cafe as a good breakfast place - both the Main Street, HB and PCH, Seal Beach locations.

Johnny Reb's!!!!

Chicken fried steak, country ham, homemade bisquits, grits, bacon, you name it, they got it. They have a web page, just look up Johnny Reb's. They all have peanut shells on the floor, look like a shanty inside, some of them on the outside too. The best servers in town. You gotta go there. There's one in Orange.

I am specifically talking about the Orange location at lunch time during the work week. That no longer seems to be the case. The servers on duty were males and they were bumbling fools.
