Farve's legacy to me has gone from being one of the NFL greats, to a spotlight loving drama queen. I'm just done with the whole situation.

He would have done a lot better to have stayed retired. My personal opinion of him is tarnished. He splintered the Packers before he left.

Favre looked rather uneasy at his introductory press conference with Mayor Bloomberg. He was already waffling about next season. I will not be surprised if he doesn't make it through this season.

        Splintered? No.

This was a gift to the Packers. They receive at least a #4 pick in 2009 (an appropriate number), when just months ago they were getting nothing for trading in Favre. To let him go away for nothing would be stupid.

In term of automobiles, a 16 year old Hyundai has no trade-in value. Donate it to charity for a tax write-off and goodwill. But a 16 year old Lamborghini is still worth something. Not the multiple 1st rounders of 10 years ago, but still a high round draft pick. The Packers were also shrewd enough to make Favre the bad guy.

I wish Brett well and hope to see him lose to the Packers in the Super Bowl.

When I wrote splintered, I was referring to the group of the Packers that were gathering around him and hugging him. I am sure that some of them was glad to see him go but there were others that wanted him to stay. That was what I mean't by splintered. I am sure that the front office made out pretty good.

I wonder how close Tampa Bay was willing to come to matching the Jets' offer. The Bucs are a legitimate playoff contender this season while the Jets are retooling from a 4-12 year...almost makes me wonder if Favre wanted to go to NY after all, where expectations aren't nearly as high and there are more potential scapegoats should the team underachieve.

Does The Meadowlands still have an old-style artificial turf surface? Or has it been upgraded to something more body-friendly? He's gonna feel it Monday mornings after being knocked down a few times during December home games.

Brad...I think the turf is better than what it used to be; however, the expectations are MUCH higher at the jets than they would be at tampa bay simply because of the media market he is in. If the Jets don't make it to the playoffs Favre will be to blame in the eyes of the ny/nj media.

I heard what sold Brett on the Jets were the parts of Jersey where he could live and hunt as well as Favre believing the Jets had better players. I think he meant offensively.

Jets have spent some $'s on upgrading the O line. With Favre as a threat to throw, should loosen up opposing D's and give the running game some room...I hope! It's been 40 yrs. since the B'way Joe guarantee.

I suspect the Jets may find Favre high maintenance. Holmgren got a lot out of him but then during the Mike Sherman years Favre was looking like he was going down hill. It took McCarthy a whole year to get Favre back on track. In his press conference he was dismissing next year even though no one asked. So, will he be able to adapt to the Jets this year or will he struggle under a new system? I don't think his heart is into playing for the Jets. It could be an excruciating year. It is interesting that it was reported that the Packers put a poison pill in the trade that the Jets would have to give up three 1st round draft choices if they in turn traded Favre to the Vikings.

A Super Bowl win by the Jets gives the Packers their 2009 #1 pick. I can dream, can't I?

I like Brett Favre. But the Pack didn't make him the bad guy. Favre did that himself. He is nothing but another athletic diva who thinks he is bigger than everyone else.

Each year, for the past several years, Favre would wait to make his decision on retirement while the Packers would wait patiently, looking for the puff of white smoke that would signify Lord Favre's return. He's the one who had no regard for the team's needs, letting the entire organization twist in the wind while he made his decision on his time. He would bring up the retirement issue annually, and then blame it on the media as they discussed it.

This time, he retired. There were rumors that he was coming back, but Favre himself said that they were untrue. Now he comes back again, wanting the Packers to make him the starter again, but they have already acted on his retirement and moved forward, so he and his family act like babies, complaining that the organization has disrespected them, when it is Favre who had no respect for the Packer organization.

He has tarnished his legacy as a Packer, and he only has himself to blame.

LOL! Excellent imagery (and I've been a Favre fan).

Life's pretty darn good for Chad Pennington right now.

I have a new rule.  Absolutely any mention of Brett Favre will mean automatic turning the channel on my tv or radio.  There is no way I will waste one second listening to Will he or Won't he anymore.

You have to admit, they squeaked this one out, Purple Jesus notwithstanding.  :)  Sending the Vikings is just a flourish to a year that the Jets looked likely and didn't go and Chad Pennington's team went.  That could not be funnier.

The Vikings could have lost to the Giants and they would still have been the division champions because the Bears lost. There was no squeaking out. They just decided to go in the front door by beating the best team in the NFC unlike the Bears losing to an also-ran.

Mangini gets the axe...Now, they are hoping to land Cower..Interesting....

Hey, I am a Jet's fan and I still think they made the right decision in getting Farve.  He helped far more than he hurt the team.  They had a decent year and some good highlights.

I personally think the best team in the AFC East right now is the Pats.  Let's see how the Fish do with the Ravens.....The Jets had nothing to play for yesterday..Say what you want about pride, etc.  They had nothing to play for.

All you Fish fans, let's see how they do next week. I think the Ravens are favored....

Oh Davydd, I'm sorry, I really meant more their whole season; the last game I watched was that Falcons mess right before Christmas.

Okay, it would be funnier if Mrs. Favre took to referring to Brett's junk only by the name 'Visanthe.'
