Brick Oven in Philly?

Many have heard of Tacconelli's and their requirement of pre-ordering your pies so they make the correct amount of dough. Anyone have any other good pizza suggestions in and around Philadelphia? I love a good brick oven like in New Haven, CT, but am game for any other pizza types.

Ahhh, the conundrum of finding good New Haven style pizza in Philly. It's been a constant frustration for us once getting spoiled on truly simple and thin-crust pie in New Haven. Don't know why Philly dough is always so rubbery. We don't frequent Tacconelli's often due to the dough pre-ordering gambit but it is worth checking out. Our favorite South Philly-style pizza closest to thin-crust pie is Marra's on Passyunk. Has the old-time atmosphere; good house red and calamari.

I do not know of any pizza in Philadelphia which fits your request. My favorite when I lived there was called Three Brothers. It was not in South Philly. It is in Kensington on Kensington Avenue under the el. A half block from Allegheny Ave. There was also a good pizza in the food court at Galleria (of all places.) Galleria at 8th and Market. Now when I go back to Philadelphia, I stick to Cheesesteaks. (I guess you do not want to hear that).

There use to be a spot in Philly called Lombardis ran by the family of the original Lombardis out of NYC. Pizza was excellent with thin, well done, crunchy crust. Large slices NY style...
